This has been a wonderful experience! I have been doing zoom video sessions with a personal therapist (Anita Webster) as well as couple therapy (Tiffany Chen) and it has been wonderful to not have to drive over an hour for an appointment. Even more importantly, both therapists are so wonderful! I highly recommend them both!!

Couples/marriage therapy FAQs

How much does Thriveworks cost?

Clients who use insurance often only owe a co-pay—which is typically $20-$50 per session. However, the exact cost of our service varies, based on your payment method (insurance or self-pay) and whether you’re attending therapy or psychiatry. From there, it will depend on your insurance plan’s specific deductible and co-pay or your provider’s specific self-pay rate.

How does insurance work with couples/marriage therapy?

Couples & marriage therapy may be filed under one person’s insurance if only one partner is covered. If both partners have separate coverage, or dual coverage as it often called, Thriveworks will bill the primary insurance first and submit the remaining balance to the secondary insurance, if applicable.

Alternatively, couples may choose to pay out-of-pocket if therapy is not covered or for privacy reasons.

What are the self-pay rates at Thriveworks?

If you don’t have insurance or your plan doesn’t cover mental health services, you can use self-pay instead.

Below is our self-pay breakdown by service and state. You can also find the exact self-pay rate for each clinician on their profile, and we can provide this information over the phone, too — so that you can make an informed, confident decision before scheduling with us.

What if I don’t feel like my therapist is the right fit?

If you feel like your therapist isn’t the right fit, you can reach out to our support center and they can seamlessly set you up with a new provider, no questions asked. You can also request a referral from your current provider, or browse our online booking for a provider who better suits your needs.

Does Thriveworks offer online therapy?

Yes, we offer both in-person therapy and online therapy options, depending on your preference and needs.

How do I talk to my partner about starting couples/marriage therapy?

If your partner feels hesitant about couples or marriage therapy and needs encouragement, make sure they know that you are willing to learn and grow alongside them and that it’s their choice whether or not they attend. It can also be helpful to discuss the rewards of therapy with them, allowing them to develop a personal stake in the outcome.

What happens if we need to cancel an appointment?

Clients are required to reschedule or cancel their appointments at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in a late cancellation fee of $135 under the following circumstances:

Cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours of the appointment.
Not showing up for the scheduled appointment. Being more than 10 minutes late for a 30-minute appointment or 15 minutes late for a 60-minute appointment, unless the session is resumed and care is delivered.

This policy is designed to provide clients with the flexibility to make last-minute changes when necessary.
