About
My own experiences with trauma and loss allow me to deeply connect with the challenges others face. I believe that by building new life skills, we can find our strength and move forward with purpose.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 19 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions. I specialize in relationship concerns, family dynamics, grief and loss, identity exploration, and stress related to life changes, offering compassionate, individualized care across the lifespan.
I earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Harding University. My background includes extensive work in community mental health, school-based services, and private practice. I am a registered play therapist and incorporate trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to meet each client’s unique needs.
I strive to create a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you feel heard and understood. Together, we will explore challenges, process difficult experiences, and build practical tools for growth and healing. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you take meaningful steps toward lasting change.

I believe everyone has a unique story, including pitfalls and challenges to overcome. I consider it a privilege to help identify each client's strengths, gifts, and skills as we work through the next chapter together.
Dave Welcher is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 5 years of experience. Dave's primary focus is on the overlapping symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression. He has worked in school-based therapy, clinical therapy, crisis screening work, and psychoeducation.
Dave received his Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas. He incorporates trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and solutions-focused therapy with evidence-based approaches including mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and narrative therapy.
Dave believes everyone can overcome personal challenges and adapt to face life's trials. He strives to understand each person's experience, keeping in mind that no one “fix” works for everyone. Seeking counseling is a success in itself.

Are you, your child, or your family struggling with anxiety, depression, stress management, or trauma? I have a passion for working with individuals (children and adults), families, and couples. My job is to assist you in helping you look at things differently. Focusing on a shift in perspective allows for needed changes in feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to fall into place. I have been a practicing therapist for 13 years. My aim is to assist individuals, families, and/or couples in creating a better quality of life. So, if a better quality of life is what you are seeking, I want to walk with you on that journey.
I enjoy studying behavior analysis and learning concepts and conditioning. During my collegiate career, I participated in my college's study of Oddity Concepts in Learning. I graduated cum laude with my master's degree in counseling in 2009 from UALR.

Thriveworks Couples therapy helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. It is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples. Some examples of common focuses within couples therapy include:
Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular couples therapy sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.
Couples therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend couples therapy for 12 weeks. However, couples therapy may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
Couples counseling can be helpful in many relationships, no matter the source of the difficulties. It can help identify the cause of the strain in your relationship.
Identifying the starting point of misunderstandings can help you to develop new ways of coping and interacting. If you’re looking for support in couples or relationship counseling, reach out to Thriveworks Conway to get started.
