Get individual therapy for depression, stress, and more (for yourself or your child/teen). Or, work through your unique relationship challenges in couples/marriage or family therapy.
Reduce or manage symptoms of mental health conditions like anxiety and ADHD, with psychiatric medication.
Browse providers online or call us and we’ll help you find someone who accepts your insurance and fits your needs. Pick a time that works for you and choose how you’d like to pay.
At your first session, share what you’re experiencing and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. Together, you’ll discuss your options—including whether medication might be a good fit. If so, your provider can send a prescription directly to your local pharmacy.
Your provider will check in regularly to make sure your treatment plan is working for you and adjust as needed.
The goal of taking an anti-anxiety medication is to help reduce the severity and frequency of your anxiety symptoms. They will not change your personality but can make managing day-to-day life feel easier by reducing worry, tension, and irritability. If you begin to feel worse after taking an anti-anxiety medication, talk with your provider immediately.
Most anti-anxiety medications will not impact the results of a home pregnancy test. If you are unsure if you may be pregnant, consult with your primary care physician or OBGYN.
At Thriveworks, our psychiatry providers are primarily licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who specialize in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. However, any licensed medical professional who is able to prescribe medication can prescribe anti-anxiety medication. This may include your OBGYN, primary care doctor, or others in your care environment.
Some anti-anxiety medications may be an option to take while pregnant. If you are or may become pregnant and are taking anti-anxiety medication, consult with your provider. Your provider will work with you to consider and manage risks and benefits during your peripartum period.
Anti-anxiety medication and the impact of taking medication may cause weight fluctuations in some people. This could be a direct result of the medication or due to a change in severity of your anxiety symptoms. If you have concerns about managing your weight while taking anti-anxiety medication, consult with your provider.
Managing anti-anxiety medication for the elderly should consider the client’s full health and any other medications taken. Providers will often recommend taking the lowest dose possible that provides an alleviation of their symptoms.
Your course of treatment will be unique to your situation — some people take anti-anxiety medication for just a few months while others may stay on them for several years. If you start feeling better, discuss next steps and your long-term goals with your provider. Do not stop taking your medication without oversight and guidance from a medical professional.
If you don’t feel like the anti-anxiety medication you’ve been prescribed is alleviating your symptoms, have a conversation with you provider. The medication may need more time to work, you may benefit from a higher dose, or another medication may be a better fit for you.
Most anti-anxiety medications take up to 8 weeks of regular use to be fully effective, with some people beginning to feel symptom relief as quickly as 1-2 weeks after starting.
You can meet with a licensed provider at Thriveworks, in person or online depending on your state. If it’s clinically appropriate, they may prescribe medication for a diagnosed mental health condition. Your provider will send your prescription to a local pharmacy to be filled.
Thriveworks accepts most major insurance plans for psychiatry and therapy services. Your insurance may also cover the cost of any medication your provider prescribes, which can be filled at a local pharmacy. Check with your plan to confirm your medical and prescription coverage.
Schedule a session with a licensed psychiatric provider at Thriveworks. After discussing your symptoms and treatment goals, your provider may recommend medication and/or additional services to help you get where you want to be.
