I'm Jeanmarie Roberts, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and doctor of behavioral health. I work with many different types of clients — depression, anxiety, PTSD, among others — and the common denominator seems to be wanting to be back to the way they used to be, to be "normal."
I am big on educating my clients to be informed consumers. Knowledge is power! I also come with a great deal of empathy and understanding of what someone is going through. I meet folks wherever they happen to be at that moment.
My goal is to help people live their best lives, and working with my clients is truly an honor. So I would like to invite you to schedule an appointment with me, and we will walk your journey together.

Having witnessed the stigma and struggles of mental illness, I am committed to partnering with you in a collaborative, respectful medication management approach that prioritizes your voice while exploring the best evidence-based treatment options to support your overall quality of life.
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 18 years of experience. I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, attention difficulties, trauma-related concerns, and behavioral changes. Previously, I spent 10 years working as a registered nurse in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient treatment, crisis services, and neurology within a traumatic brain injury treatment program. Many of my clients seek clarity about their diagnosis, effective medication management, and a provider who truly listens and supports their goals.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Mount Olive. I take a collaborative, team-based approach to care and focus on evidence-based treatment options that support meaningful, lasting improvement.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered in your care. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan designed to help you regain balance, build resilience, and move toward improved well-being.

Yes, we offer comprehensive psychiatric services to meet your mental health needs.
Psychiatry allows people struggling to manage mental conditions or disorders to get access to medications that will make daily functioning easier, as well as work through any mental factors that might be causing or worsening their condition. Though medications can’t cure mental disorders, medication can make symptoms more manageable, making the process of psychotherapeutic treatment easier and more effective. Psychiatric care can be available through in-person psychiatry and online psychiatry, depending on where you live and your own preferences. However, psychiatric providers at Thriveworks in Charlotte, NC specifically offer online psychiatry to their clients.
A therapist has an education specifically rooted in therapeutic practice, approaches, techniques, and treatment. They cannot prescribe medications for clients, though they often refer clients to psychiatrists for medication management. Psychiatrists are medically trained doctors who specialize in mental health treatment, mainly through medication management and prescription, though they can also practice therapy.
A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly trained and licensed professional who specializes in mental health care. They are qualified to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide therapy. Psychiatric NPs at Thriveworks are qualified to prescribe medications for a variety of mental health conditions. They work closely with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Oftentimes, psychiatrists or psychiatric professionals will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which involves an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and current medications. Once they reach a diagnosis, they may suggest starting certain medications depending on your condition and the intensity of your symptoms.
Yes. At Thriveworks, we offer online-only psychiatry services for optimal comfort and convenience.
