About
I know how overwhelming life can feel at times, and my goal is to help you find calm and clarity in the chaos.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 4 years of experience and specialized training in trauma, autism, anxiety, and anger management. I work with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or misunderstood, helping them build resilience, manage emotions, improve relationships, and create balance. I draw on evidence-based practices and a compassionate approach to guide clients in setting meaningful goals, developing coping skills, and moving toward lasting positive change.
I earned a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College, where I also trained at a neuropsychological clinic. I have received training in cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure, and motivational interviewing, allowing me to tailor care to each client.
I understand that feeling anxious, stuck, or misunderstood can be exhausting. I offer a supportive space where you will feel heard and valued. With experience in trauma, anxiety, autism, and anger, I walk alongside clients as they work toward healing, clarity, and hope for a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Making the decision to seek therapy is incredibly courageous. I have over 19 years experience working as a Social Worker and I am a licensed Master’s Social Worker. I have worked with a diverse population with a variety of diagnoses and situations. However, I believe that each person’s experience is unique and while they may be similar to someone else’s, no two people or situations are the same, therefore neither are the solutions. I provide a non-judgmental , compassionate, therapeutic environment. Working together is essential to creating a good therapeutic relationship and one that is most beneficial. I find that creating meaningful goals with clients based on specific needs really helps this process. Life is not meant to be figured out alone. I feel both honored and privileged to work with my clients helping them to overcome their obstacles and empowering them to do so.

Megan: My go-to approach for couple’s therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I find the best benefit in CBT because it helps clients understand how thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected. I also focus on communication skills.
Carri: My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is helping them understand communication styles that foster respect. I help them find the connection that brought them together in the first place. I prefer to look at individual strengths because so much of interpersonal conflict is centered on losing one's identity.
Megan: I teach the following tools in couple’s therapy: communication skills, active listening, relationship growth activities, and soft start-ups for difficult conversations.
Carri: I teach communication skills, highlight rules for fair fighting, and look for areas of compromise. I borrow techniques from CBT, DBT, the Gottman Method, and overall mindfulness.
Megan: I know a client is making meaningful progress in couple’s therapy when they have an improvement in overall communication and are discussing things openly and honestly.
Carri: I know a couple is making progress when they can maneuver through conflict without them reverting back to their old patterns. They are comfortable communicating with their partner.
Megan: Clients can supplement their time in couples therapy through journaling, relationship growth activities, working on communication skills, and spending quality time together.
Carri: Clients can supplement their time in couples/marriage counseling with dedicated time for connecting with each other.
Megan: To prepare for your first couples therapy session, clients can begin to make a list identifying the top issues to work on. Journaling your thoughts and feelings and bringing the journal to therapy is also helpful.
Carri: To prepare for your first couples/marriage counseling session, I encourage couples to reflect on what strengths they bring to the relationship. At the same time, acceptance of your role in the conflict is necessary for positive growth.
Thriveworks Couples therapy helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. It is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples. Some examples of common focuses within couples therapy include:
Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular couples therapy sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.
Couples therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend couples therapy for 12 weeks. However, couples therapy may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
