About
As someone who has experienced life-transitions and overwhelm, I understand what it feels like to carry a lot internally while still showing up for life, and I help clients untangle and work through unhelpful patterns so that they can feel more grounded, clear and in control.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) who works with adults navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I specialize in helping individuals who feel tired, overwhelmed, and unsure of their next step, but are ready for change. I work with clients who are carrying more that they let others see and help them gain clarity, build healthier patterns, and feel more grounded and in control of their lives.
My approach is warm, supportive, and grounded in evidenced -based practices such as CBT and mindfulness. I help clients better understand the patterns behind their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools to manage stress, build healthier habits, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you've been carrying so much on your own. You don't have to have everything figured out to begin. You deserve a space where you feel supported, understood, and not alone. When you're ready, I'm here to walk alongside you in the process of growth and healing.

I recognize that mental wellness is influenced by multiple interconnected factors including biological, psychological, social and lifestyle elements. Rather than simply treating symptoms, I work with each patient to understand the root causes of their challenges and develop comprehensive treatment plans that address the whole person.
My name is Ilyssa Carsia, CRNP, PMHNP-BC. I have worked as an inpatient nurse in medical-surgical settings, and I have also worked as an outpatient nurse in rehabilitation and behavioral health settings. I am passionate about my chosen profession as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I love learning about and connecting with others. In particular, I enjoy helping others navigate major life transitions. I understand how past experiences shape current mental health challenges, and I help patients process difficult experiences and build resilience. I have expertise in treating anxiety and mood disorders with a holistic approach.
I like to take a person-centered approach, helping people work towards their ideal self. I have a deep understanding of how early childhood experiences and familial relationships can affect and shape development and personality. I am skilled at helping people recognize unconscious beliefs, emotions, and relational patterns.
Whatever you may be going through, I am here to be an ongoing source of support, guidance, and encouragement. I look forward to hearing from you and learning about your unique story, challenges, and treatment goals!

Having witnessed the realities of trauma, burnout, and resilience firsthand, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences and build confidence in their healing journey.
I am a licensed associate professional counselor (LAPC) with 6 years of experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, crises, and life transitions. I specialize in helping clients explore how past experiences shape their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania. My approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused strategies to help clients challenge unhelpful patterns and build practical coping skills.
I believe everyone has the capacity to heal, even when life feels overwhelming. I strive to create a safe, empathetic space where you feel heard and supported. Together, we can develop tools that foster clarity, resilience, and emotional well-being. When you are ready, I am here to help you take the next step.

I don't have a go-to approach for individual therapy, as it entirely depends on the primary issues the client is dealing with. I enjoy using CBT, DBT, and MI predominantly, because I have seen the positive impact various skills from each intervention can make in someone's day to day functioning.
I base my assessment of a client's progress off what I see them actively doing when talking about themselves, others, etc. such as catching negative thought cycles and also by their own report of progress and how they feel. The most important thing is making sure my clients feel they can see the benefits of their hard work.
Implement the tools we discuss weekly, and actively make changes where it is needed. Nothing changes unless you do!
I encourage them to keep an open mind upon starting therapy, as each therapist has their own unique style of therapy. I also encourage them to be totally authentic and honest, not trying to tell me what they think the right answer is or what I want to hear.
Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.
Individual therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.
