About
The most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself, once you are strong and stable in that relationship, you will be able to be strong and stable in other relationships.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s most difficult seasons. I spent 18 years as a firefighter and EMT helping people with their physical wounds, and now my focus is on helping them heal their emotional ones. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their stories, uncover resilience, and begin the process of emotional restoration.
I earned my master’s in counseling from Lewis and Clark College, where I developed a deep appreciation for the connection between the mind and body. My approach integrates trauma-informed, person-centered, and collaborative care techniques designed to support each individual’s unique path to healing.
I believe that healing begins with understanding, and I look forward to hearing your story and learning about the life you want to create. Together, we can identify the ways your nervous system has been impacted by past experiences and work toward emotional balance, resilience, and lasting growth.

My goal in therapy is to help clients cope more effectively with current concerns, process past trauma, and build better relationships.
My goal is to help clients decrease the negative effects of stress, anxiety, trauma, co-occurring disorders, substance use, and other mental health challenges, while building coping, relationship, and parenting skills. I've worked in domestic violence shelters, on the Drug Court team, in schools and counseling offices, and I believe that individuals are unique with inherent worth. I work to create individualized treatment plans that highlight strengths and meet each client's needs. Approaches may include Adlerian therapy, EMDR, DBT, TRM, expressive art therapy, nCBT, AFFIRM, and PCIT.
I work to hear and understand your story, and help you recognize your strengths, learn new skills, and challenge thinking or behaviors that are not serving you. I may also help you reprocess and reduce the effects of trauma. A session may include conversation, art or writing activities, body awareness, mindfulness practices, or play.
Counseling can help you get unstuck. What you're going through, feeling, or thinking right now doesn't have to be forever. Counseling means having support while you explore, learn new skills, use your strengths more effectively, and work toward better relationships. If it feels like we'd be a good match, let's begin by scheduling your first appointment.

As a person who has experienced addiction, depression, and trauma/loss, I understand the complexities of navigating internal and external challenges when attempting to achieve goals and maintain quality of life. I am committed to helping others build resiliency and achieve their goals.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the complexities—and often confusion associated with—anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and other challenges. I work collaboratively with clients to clearly define goals and a supportive environment aimed at achieving sustainable change.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from Portland State University. My clinical approach is client-centered and often grounded in narrative therapy to identify and externalize problems. Through the use of motivational interviewing, stages of change, and cognitive-behavioral modalities, I help clients build a realistic plan to achieve goals.
I understand what it's like to live with personal struggles and try to manage them on your own. Shame, stigma, and societal pressures often prevent people from accepting help. It takes courage and humility to confide in another about our own emotions. I encourage you to schedule an appointment to discuss how we can work together to achieve your goals.

As someone with lived experience with mental health issues, I believe that recovery is always possible.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 18 years of experience supporting individuals facing addiction, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. I have worked in hospital settings, community mental health, and crisis environments, providing care to individuals experiencing acute mental health and substance use challenges. My work is grounded in creating a supportive, respectful space where clients feel safe to share openly and honestly.
I have a master’s degree in community counseling from Fort Hays State University. My approach is strengths-based and individualized, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. I focus on identifying personal strengths and building skills that support long-term recovery and emotional well-being.
I am committed to helping you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change. Together, we will identify your goals and develop practical strategies to help you move forward with confidence. I look forward to supporting you as you begin or continue your journey toward healing and a more fulfilling future.

At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with therapists at Thriveworks in Oregon, OR is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The duration of a standard DBT program is typically around 24 weeks, which is roughly six months. The actual number of sessions will vary depending on the issues you wish to address.
