Starting Couples therapy in Colorado Springs

What is couples therapy?

Thriveworks Couples therapy helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. It is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples. Some examples of common focuses within couples therapy include:

  • Jealousy
  • Trust issues
  • Infidelity
  • Opposing values
  • Different visions for the future
  • Disagreements in parenting
  • Lack of trust
  • Financial distress
  • Sex issues

How does couples therapy work?

Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.
Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular couples therapy sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.

Is couples therapy conducted in person or online?

Couples therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.

How long does couples therapy last?

On average, couples attend couples therapy for 12 weeks. However, couples therapy may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.

Couples and Relationship Counseling – Therapists in Colorado Springs

Relationships can the greatest thing on earth when each person is feeling loved, cared for and respected. Most of us have been in a relationship like this and can remember how it feels. It’s inevitable that at some point during the relationship, there will be some disagreements, moments of feeling disrespected, feeling unloved, or even feelings of hopelessness. We wonder if we’ll ever return to feeling loved, cared for and respected again. We wonder if we’ll be able to laugh and play with our partner again.

The good news is that yes, you can and you will. It may take some time and work, but we’ll help with that part. If you think you could benefit from relationship counseling, reach out to Thriveworks Colorado Springs today to get started.

Do We Need Relationship Counseling?

If you are reading this page, it’s possible that you are considering leaving the relationship. In some cases, this may be best, however in many cases, counseling can work the kinks out and bring back respect, appreciation and fun to the relationship. You’ve put so much time and energy into the relationship, let’s work to restore it! Thriveworks Colorado Springs couples counseling can help.

The beginning of a relationship tends to be exciting, filled with intense physical and emotional desires to be with each other. Eventually, this phase passes and we get comfortable with each other. Falling into daily routines, we sometimes forget to be intentional in our actions and don’t show our partner love, appreciation and respect. Maybe your situation involves a partner being unfaithful. This can be incredibly difficult, since trust is a cornerstone of a relationship. Contrary to many beliefs, this doesn’t have to be a relationship buster. We believe that you and your partner can work through it, coming out with a stronger relationship than before.

Our clinician "deleted" our 2 pm appointment at 7:15 pm the night prior with no explanation and we were not notified. So we arrived and after waiting 15 minutes with no one acknowledging us at the office, we called and were informed our appointment has been deleted. This is entirely unacceptable. We would be penalized if we did this to the clinician, and instead we're still penalized with our waste of time and gas.

Jerry was amazing! Jerry uses choice theory in order to help his patients grow and work through their problems. Choice theory was helpful through my relationship counseling but also could be used individually to helps each person grow themselves. Jerry used real scenarios in order to water down the theory, making it less scientific and more geared toward individual use. Jerry was patient, helpful, and very understanding.
