My go-to approach for treating anxiety involves mindfulness-based stress reduction. Although some people may think of this as meditating for hours and “becoming one with nothing,” it actually focuses on living in the now and utilizing tools and strengths that we already possess to manage our emotions more skillfully.
I utilize the following tools in individual therapy to treat anxiety:

I encourage clients who are living with anxiety to spend as much time as possible on self-care. Anxiety can be exhausting—give yourself a break! Clients can listen to podcasts (ask me, I'm happy to recommend some), and practice skills.

How would you like to feel after a few therapy sessions? Think about that, and then communicate that to your prospective therapist either beforehand or at the intake to make sure it's a good fit for you.
