I believe everyone should be treated as a human and an individual, so I try to be as genuine as possible while making sure that the person I'm meeting with has substantial input in treatment decisions.
Hi, I am Ryan Wade, a psychiatrist board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. I completed medical school and my Psychiatry residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, followed by an Addiction Psychiatry fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. Despite my training in the addiction field, I spend a large portion of my time focusing on mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more. I find that I typically work most with people who want to consolidate their medication regimen or those who view medication as a tool, not solely the solution to the issues they are facing.
I attempt to meet people where they are and the level they are willing to engage with treatment as this varies significantly from person to person. I believe psychotherapy is quite powerful for most people and routinely recommend it alongside my work with clients, including any medications I would potentially prescribe.
If you are considering seeing someone for your mental health — or even wondering if what you are feeling day-to-day is "normal" and would like an assessment — feel free to schedule an appointment. Sydney Vaughn is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor with over 3 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan. She specializes in working with children and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, behavioral challenges, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Sharon Rich is a Licensed Social Worker with 3 years of experience who is passionate about helping others better understand themselves. She specializes in working with diverse populations including adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, life changes, LGBTQ+ issues, substance use disorders, and mental health disorders such as ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, attachment disorders, and more. Sharon has a unique background working with acute mental heath concerns at an inpatient psychiatric hospital and a substance use treatment center. Her priority is to offer empathy and support, every step of the way.
Sharon received her Master's in Social Work at Bryn Mawr College, where she specialized in trauma-informed care. She takes a client-centered approach and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, culturally sensitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing, among other techniques.

At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
