About
With 30 years of experience, I've learned that healing is never 'cookie-cutter.' I bring a warm, compassionate, and uniquely personal perspective to therapy, honoring the individuality of your story with the wisdom of a clinician, wife, and mother.
After many years in social work, I've come to believe that the most effective therapy doesn't come from a one-size-fits-all approach, but from meeting you exactly where you are. I believe in deeply individualized care, partnering with you to identify your goals and help you make rapid, meaningful progress. With a unique perspective shaped by my own journey through challenges and trauma, I offer an open-minded, non-judgmental space where you can feel truly understood and empowered to heal.
My approach is client-centered and eclectic—I tailor my methods to your unique needs rather than one fixed style. I draw on CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy and specialize in trauma-informed care and grief counseling. Whether processing trauma, facing a crisis, or adjusting to change, I'm here to create a space where you feel heard and empowered.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to act as a supportive guide on your journey toward healing. You've already shown immense strength by looking for support. Let's work together to build on that strength - I invite you to book your first appointment today and to begin the next chapter.

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of life challenges. I earned my master’s degree in human services counseling from the University of New Orleans and hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University. I use an eclectic, client-centered approach, meeting clients where they are and tailoring therapeutic techniques to support growth, self-awareness, and recovery.

Eating disorder therapy is a specialized approach aimed at assisting those who are grappling with a range of eating disorders. These disorders are significant mental health conditions characterized by irregular or unhealthy eating patterns and an intense focus on body weight and shape. Common conditions addressed in Eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).
At Thriveworks, Eating disorders begins with a thorough assessment and personalized treatment plan. Central to eating disorder therapy is psychotherapy, often employing cognitive behavioral therapy and other specialized techniques to target negative thought patterns.
The signs of an eating disorder can include:
CBT’s remission rate, according to some research, is generally between 50-30% for those seeking assistance for eating disorder symptoms.
The recovery rate for those seeking assistance with eating disorders depends entirely on the individual’s involvement in sessions, the severity of their symptoms, and their willingness to change their eating habits and relationship with food.
Eating disorder therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of Eating disorders will vary from one person to the next, dependent on their specific needs. Your therapist can help to determine what might be most beneficial for you.
Eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia are serious psychiatric disorders with severe health consequences. These disorders can introduce significant physical risks and require both medical and psychological interventions for effective treatment.
At Thriveworks New Orleans, we provide holistic care to address the mental and physical harm caused by eating disorders. Reach out to our office at (504) 732-9138 to schedule your session today.
The development of eating disorders is often deeply personal, but mental health professionals generally recognize two categories of causes:
Eating disorders are not just phases; they are serious mental illnesses. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) outlines the criteria for diagnosing them.
Anorexia Nervosa:
Anorexia can lead to serious health issues, including low heart rate, anemia, low blood pressure, kidney damage, abnormal heartbeat, menstrual disruptions, heart failure, infertility, low white blood cell counts, endocrine disruptions, osteoporosis, and premature death.
Bulimia Nervosa:
Bulimia can cause health problems such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, tooth decay, gastric rupture, constipation, kidney damage, electrolyte imbalance, and heart failure.
If you recognize any symptoms of bulimia or anorexia in yourself or a loved one, it’s important to seek professional help. Thriveworks New Orleans offers holistic and individualized care for those struggling with eating disorders.
