About
As a bilingual clinician who has experienced life’s unexpected changes and transitions, I understand how challenging it can be to find your footing again, and I value creating a space where you feel understood, respected, and empowered to reconnect with your strengths, find balance, and move forward with purpose.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, and circumstances leaving them feeling overwhelmed.I particularly enjoy working with individuals ready to better understand themselves, recognize patterns holding them back, and create meaningful change. My goal is to provide a supportive space to explore your experiences without judgment and work toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and eclectic, integrating person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, psychoeducation, existential, and solution-focused approaches. I tailor our work to your unique needs, helping you gain insight, build practical skills, recognize your strengths, and create meaningful change.
You don't have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Wherever you are in your journey, I will meet you with compassion, empathy, and without judgment. When you're ready, I invite you to take the next step toward greater understanding, healing, and meaningful change by scheduling an appointment.

As someone who has experienced trauma, I understand the impact it has on self-worth and the challenges it can cause in daily life.
I'm Danielle, an EMDR therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, self-worth challenges, grief, life transitions, and the lasting impact of childhood trauma. I specialize in EMDR and trauma-focused treatment, helping clients move beyond longstanding patterns, process unresolved experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach centers on using EMDR to address the experiences and underlying patterns contributing to client's current difficulties and helping them transform the personal narratives they have carried about themselves. Treatment is focused on trauma processing and meaningful therapeutic change rather than primarily on general supportive processing or coping-skills development.
I help clients deepen their self-awareness, develop greater emotional resilience, and create lives that feel more authentic and aligned. Known for my direct, honest, and compassionate style, I work best with clients who are ready to actively engage in the therapeutic process. I believe meaningful growth often requires courage, accountability, and a willingness to examine uncomfortable truths.
In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I'm deeply interested in spirituality and the connection between emotional, energetic, and personal growth. My work is influenced by my experience as a Reiki practitioner and tarot reader, and I welcome clients who wish to explore spirituality, intuition, energy work, or questions of meaning as part of their healing journey.

Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. It helps people navigate their grief process and eventually accept, understand, and move forward from their loss. Thriveworks grief therapists in Jersey City, NJ have specific experience, training, and skills that enable them to best support grieving individuals.
Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in Jersey City, NJ will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
