About
As a bilingual clinician who has experienced life’s unexpected changes and transitions, I understand how challenging it can be to find your footing again, and I value creating a space where you feel understood, respected, and empowered to reconnect with your strengths, find balance, and move forward with purpose.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, and circumstances leaving them feeling overwhelmed.I particularly enjoy working with individuals ready to better understand themselves, recognize patterns holding them back, and create meaningful change. My goal is to provide a supportive space to explore your experiences without judgment and work toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and eclectic, integrating person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, psychoeducation, existential, and solution-focused approaches. I tailor our work to your unique needs, helping you gain insight, build practical skills, recognize your strengths, and create meaningful change.
You don't have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Wherever you are in your journey, I will meet you with compassion, empathy, and without judgment. When you're ready, I invite you to take the next step toward greater understanding, healing, and meaningful change by scheduling an appointment.

Family therapy helps families resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships. It is led by qualified mental health professionals like psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who have extensive training in family dynamics and group communication.
Thriveworks family therapists in Jersey City, NJ usually begin by asking what everyone’s goals are for family counseling. Family members may need help with very specific issues or with general relationship functioning. But there are three main purposes in family counseling: to educate, to counsel, and to strengthen. Thriveworks also offers online family therapy and in-person services, so you may all meet in an office together or join a video call from your home depending on everyone’s location and availability.
The most effective form of Family therapy will often depend on the family itself, as there are many types of family therapy for therapists to use as they see fit in order to best meet the needs of their clients. However, one of the most commonly used types of family therapy is structural family therapy (SFT). SFT focuses specifically on family dynamics and interactions, looking at how they shape the relationships and structure present in the family. It can be effectively used to treat a variety of concerns.
This answer often looks different to each family that starts family therapy. However, some signs that your family might need to consider family counseling include frequent fights or misunderstandings, constant tension, experiencing loss, behavioral issues, marital issues, divorce, and blended family issues, among others.
In family therapy, therapists will often start by asking questions and assessing individual and family dynamics. From there, they may employ therapeutic techniques such as structured family therapy, CBT, strategic family therapy, and more depending on the present concerns and conflicts. From there, a therapist will work to open lines of communication between family members and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Family therapy can be incredibly successful, with some studies reporting a success rate of almost 90% for improving participants’ emotional and mental health, and around 66% for improving their physical health.
Thriveworks therapists in Jersey City, NJ offer both online family therapy and in-person family therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Family therapy is usually short term and solution-focused, with most families accomplishing their goals in 12 sessions or fewer. However, it can also last for longer if the probles at hand are more complex — and that’s okay, too.
We might run into the following challenges that affect the family unit:
These challenges can prove difficult to manage and work through together. Families should reach out for professional help when they encounter these challenges that they aren’t able to resolve on their own. Talking to a professional can help to ensure the happiness and health of our relationships with our loved ones.
If you think your family could benefit from talking to an unbiased third party with professional skills and experience to help, reach out to Thriveworks Counseling in Jersey City, NJ. We have family counselors on staff who can help you work through your problems, like those we mentioned above, and repair these important relationships.
So, what is family therapy? How can it help? And can it help your family? These are all important questions. First, family therapy is simply the process of working with a therapist to manage or resolve the problems that are affecting your relationships with your loved ones. It is a form of psychotherapy that helps families make amends and is typically led by licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs).
Family therapy sessions involve the family members who are affected by the given problems that have brought them into therapy. Now, the family therapist may also ask to meet with family members separately if they need to better understand the individual. Counseling helps by guiding important discussions that are otherwise difficult to have. Therapists can offer effective communication techniques, coping skills, and other important tools that help families work through their issues. If your family is dealing with the loss of a friend, family member, or pet; divorce or separation; behavioral issues in kids or teens; mental illness, or another significant issue, you can likely benefit from talking to family therapist
Family therapists can offer feedback and perspective that you wouldn’t otherwise realize. They can also guide productive conversations and lead your family to finding resolution.
Family counseling can help families of all shapes and sizes. We’ve already listed some of the reasons families pursue family counseling but there are other reasons to seek counsel from a family counselor, too. In any case, a family therapy can help you and your family…
Do these goals align with the goals you have for your family? If you achieve the above, do you think your family could reach a happier and healthier place? If the answer is yes, consider starting a relationship with a family therapist.
