About
I remind my clients—and myself—that this season of their life is only one chapter, not the entire book. In our work together, I honor the weight of what they’ve survived while supporting them in reclaiming their power to shape what comes next. I help them reframe their experiences, reconnect with their voice, and recognize the strength that has carried them this far. Their trauma does not define them; instead, I walk alongside them as they discover the meaning, healing, and empowerment they choose to create moving forward.
I’m Erica Fulton, a licensed professional counselor who believes people are meant not just to survive, but to thrive and live out their purpose. I bring together lived experience, clinical training, and evidence-based care to support clients navigating trauma, grief, ADHD, and major life transitions. After losing my husband, I took time to rebuild, and that experience shapes how I show up in therapy. I specialize in working with individuals impacted by trauma or change, helping them reconnect with themselves, process their experiences, and build tools for stability, growth, and long-term healing at their own pace.
My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I prioritize creating a safe space where clients can explore their story and emotions. I draw from evidence-based practices like CPT, DBT skills, and grief-informed care. I tailor each session to support healing, insight, and practical growth in a way that feels grounded and collaborative.
Healing takes courage, and starting therapy is a meaningful step. I strive to ensure you feel supported and not alone in the process. I bring compassion, clinical skill, and steady presence to our work together. If you’re ready to reconnect with your strength, and move toward a life that feels more grounded, I would be honored to support you.

I believe healing begins when we feel truly seen and understood, and my goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can show up fully—messy, real, and human—and still feel accepted.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 8 years of experience helping adults navigate life’s challenges. I began my career in applied behavior analysis with children on the autism spectrum before transitioning to work with eating disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety. Through these experiences, I learned how deeply our emotions, bodies, and stories are connected and how healing begins when we feel truly seen and supported.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University. My therapeutic approach blends accountability with humor to foster honesty and growth. I use cognitive processing therapy for PTSD, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy to support lasting change.
I aim to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you navigate life’s ups and downs. My goal is to help you reclaim peace, build emotional resilience, and move forward with confidence and clarity. If you’re ready to rewrite your story and evolve with purpose, I’d be honored to walk beside you.

My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is eclectic. I don't believe therapy is a one-size-fits-all type of thing because everyone is beginning therapy at different stages. Some have no experience sharing personal details of their life with anyone, while others may be an open book and ready to talk about everything.
I teach the following tools in individual therapy:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy when they start to have a shift in their personality or outlook and they are doing the work that leads them to progress.
Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by practicing techniques that were discussed in session as well as doing any homework or reading if assigned.
To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can have an understanding of family history of medical/mental health issues (if any), an idea(s) on goals you'd like to work on together as a team with me, and a willingness to change or make changes in your life.
Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.
