About
Life is always changing, and we are constantly learning how to adapt and grow. As a queer woman of color in the Latinx community, I bring both lived experience and clinical understanding to the work I do. I recognize how deeply life experiences and intergenerational trauma can shape who we are and how we move through the world. I am committed to supporting healing, resilience, and meaningful change for the individuals and communities I work with.
Hi, I'm Amaryllis, but you can call me Ama. I earned my Master of Social Work degree and have spent nearly eight years in clinical practice. I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. I work with teens, adults, and older adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and intergenerational wounds. Together, we'll create a compassionate, judgment-free space to foster healing, build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and help you move toward the life you want.
My approach is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your needs. I integrate CBT, CPT, ACT, mindfulness, personcentered, solution-focused, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to build coping skills, foster resilience, and support healing in a safe, affirming space.
Healing can hold both tears and laughter. I strive to create a compassionate, judgmentfree space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted for who you are. When you're ready, I invite you to take the next step and begin your journey with me.

OCD counseling is a specialized therapeutic approach aimed at supporting individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The goal of this counseling is to help clients manage and alleviate the distressing symptoms of OCD by systematically addressing their obsessive thought patterns and compulsive behaviors.
In OCD counseling, Thriveworks Hoffman Estates therapists use cognitive behavioral techniques, including exposure and response prevention, to assist you in addressing and managing your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. An OCD therapist will collaborate with you to identify and modify irrational thought patterns while gradually and gently exposing you to anxiety-triggering situations, helping to disrupt the cycle of obsessive-compulsive rituals and promote healthier coping strategies.
Thriveworks OCD counseling in Hoffman Estates, IL is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions for OCD counseling is variable, contingent upon the individual’s unique needs, the severity of their condition, and their progress during treatment. Typically, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), commonly used for OCD, comprises around 12 to 16 weekly sessions, but the exact session count can be customized based on the individual’s response to treatment and therapeutic objectives. Some opt for a more extended duration to comprehensively manage symptoms and address complex issues.
