Starting Depression counseling in Toledo

What can counseling do for those who suffer with depression?

Depression counseling can help those with major depression, minor depression, postpartum depression, persistent depressive disorder, and more. The providers at Thriveworks in Toledo, OH will develop a unique treatment plan based on your specific experience, needs, and goals.

Is it worth going to therapy for depression?

It is absolutely worth going to therapy for depression — depression counseling helps people better manage their symptoms and get back to living happier lives again.

How does depression counseling work?

Depression counseling works by helping people pinpoint life problems, distorted thought patterns, and other causes of their depression, then process and work through them in order to mitigate the negative effects those factors have on their lives.

Signs of depression

Common signs of depression include:

  • Consistent low mood
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Oversleeping or difficulty sleeping
  • Changes in diet (eating much more or less)
  • Withdrawal and isolation
  • Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Loss of interest in previous hobbies or activities
  • Excessive substance use

Is depression counseling conducted in person or online?

Thriveworks depression counseling in Toledo, OH is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How often should you attend depression therapy sessions?

Depression counseling can last for a few weeks, months, or longer, dependent on the severity of one’s depression as well as their needs and preferences.

How much does depression counseling cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. Types of Depression: Major, Minor, and Other Depressive Disorders

Depression can be divided into different conditions, including major depression, minor depression, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and other types of depression.

Here’s a little bit about each of these:

  1. Major and minor depression: These two types of depression are similar. As you can infer from their names, though, major depression comes with more severe symptoms (those we listed above).
  2. Postpartum depression: This form of depression develops in women after they’ve had a baby. It can come with the symptoms listed earlier and also difficult emotions that surround their baby.
  3. Bipolar disorder: This is another type of depression that comes with depressed states and manic states. Those with bipolar disorder switch back and forth between the two.
  4. Seasonal affective disorder: Seasonal affective disorder, otherwise known as winter depression, is a form of depression that develops in the colder, darker months.

All of the above depressive disorders can interfere with one’s living a happy, normal life. If you think that you might have one of these forms of depression or another type of depression, please consider talking to a depression counselor at Thriveworks Counseling in Toledo, OH.
