About
As someone who has experienced severe trauma, with resulting chronic PTSD, I have a personal understanding of how this impacts every aspect of our lives.
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with 16 years of experience supporting individuals facing complex mental health needs. My background includes acute inpatient care, outpatient treatment, and work with military members and first responders. I am particularly sensitive to the experiences of those who have served and those who often feel unseen. My goal is always to help each person feel safe, respected, and cared for.
I hold a master’s degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama. My approach to care is thoughtful and intentional. I believe in conservative medication management and aim for the best results with the least amount needed. I am also transitioning toward a more holistic and metabolic approach because everything in the body is connected.
I know how discouraging it can feel when you’re not listened to or your concerns are overlooked. I will take the time to understand your story, honor your goals, and work with you to find clarity and healing. I promise to do my best to make you feel truly seen, supported, and heard.

Everyone feels sad from time to time. However, if you’ve been feeling down for a long period of time and it’s interfering with your job, relationships, or other aspects of your day-to-day life, it may be time to speak to a qualified professional.
Depression is a diagnosable mood disorder that affects millions of people every year in the United States alone. Unfortunately, some people suffering from depression avoid professional help due to persistent feelings of hopelessness and low self-worth. It can be difficult to imagine a way out if you’re dealing with severe symptoms, and the idea of visiting a counseling center can be daunting or overwhelming.
Many people struggling with depressive episodes also suffer from painful self-judgment and feelings of shame. Some individuals aren’t sure if they even deserve to get better, thinking their feelings are somehow their fault or that something is wrong with them.
The good news is that depression does not need to keep you from living a life of happiness and fulfillment. Many people in your shoes have leveraged depression counseling to overcome their symptoms and get their lives back on track.
If you’d like to experience the benefits of depression counseling, start by getting in touch with us at Thriveworks Counseling in Peoria, AZ today.
There are many forms of depression but the most common symptoms people tend to experience include:
One of the most common types of depressive disorders is called major depressive disorder (also known as clinical depression). People who experience this form of depression exhibit multiple symptoms for a period of two weeks or more.
Persistent depressive disorder, on the other hand, is a form of chronic low-grade depression that can last for two years or longer. Other forms of depression may be situational, such as post-partum depression and seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
If you’re dealing with a mental illness like depression, it’s common to feel like there’s no way out. However, you don’t have to face this alone. Experienced counselors are ready to help at Thriveworks Counseling in Peoria, AZ.
There’s no doubt that depression can be overwhelming and all-encompassing. You may feel unable to complete the simplest of tasks and can barely remember what life was like before you felt depressed. Even so, it’s important to realize that countless clients like you have experienced symptoms of depression and have gone on to live fuller and happier lives.
Many factors can contribute to a person’s struggle with depression; therefore, treatment can take many forms depending on the client’s specific situation. Typically, clients benefit from medication, talk therapy, or some combination of the two.
When it comes to treating depression with talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is among the most common tools used by therapists. CBT is a form of talk therapy based on the idea that distorted thinking patterns and negative beliefs can significantly impact moods and behaviors. By verbalizing your thoughts with a qualified therapist in a structured and confidential setting, you can work towards reinforcing positive thinking patterns and finding more productive ways to deal with stressors and challenging circumstances.
A therapist can also provide helpful advice regarding self-care and problem-solving to help you mitigate your symptoms in the future. If you’ve been dealing with symptoms of depression and are ready to speak to a mental health professional, compassionate support can be found at Thriveworks Counseling in Peoria, AZ.
