As a person from multiple marginalized communities, my work is grounded in both clinical expertise and lived experience, which helps clients feel respected, understood, and supported.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 20 years of experience providing culturally responsive, evidence-based mental health care. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and emotional challenges. My approach is practical and collaborative, and I value working with individuals who are engaged, consistent, and motivated in their therapeutic process.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Memphis. My work integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and strength-based approaches. I focus on skill-building strategies while also exploring patterns and experiences that influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Therapy is a space for growth, clarity, and meaningful change. If you are seeking practical tools, steady support, and a counselor who will walk alongside you, I am here to help. Together, we can work toward building the change you have been hoping for, one step at a time.

My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is providing person-centered counseling that acknowledges the client's perspective and worldview, cultivates a safe and supportive space for the client to speak and share, and validates the client's feelings and experiences.
I teach the following tools in individual therapy: acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, stress management, solution-focused brief therapy, and trauma-informed therapy, among many more.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy when I receive feedback and input from the client through review of their mental health assessment scores such as the GAD-7 and PHQ-9, as well as from an evaluation of treatment goals and their effectiveness.
Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy with completion of homework assignments, self-care, and comprehensive healthcare checkups with their doctors, nurses, nutritionists or other specialized providers.
To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can ensure all necessary consent documents are signed and all paperwork has been properly filed. Additionally, it helps to relax and be optimistic about the benefits that counseling will have for you.
Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.
Individual therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.
