About
As a person from multiple marginalized communities, my work is grounded in both clinical expertise and lived experience, which helps clients feel respected, understood, and supported.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 20 years of experience providing culturally responsive, evidence-based mental health care. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and emotional challenges. My approach is practical and collaborative, and I value working with individuals who are engaged, consistent, and motivated in their therapeutic process.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Memphis. My work integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and strength-based approaches. I focus on skill-building strategies while also exploring patterns and experiences that influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Therapy is a space for growth, clarity, and meaningful change. If you are seeking practical tools, steady support, and a counselor who will walk alongside you, I am here to help. Together, we can work toward building the change you have been hoping for, one step at a time.

My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is creating a cohesive therapeutic atmosphere conducive to quality counseling, ensuring both parties reach agreement on relational goals and objectives. I enjoy couples/marriage counseling because the interpersonal dynamics and interactions are very engaging, and it is rewarding to help clients reach their relational goals.
I teach the following tools in couples/marriage counseling: active listening, boundary-setting, communication techniques, conflict resolution, effective problem-solving, forgiveness processes, goal-setting, solution-focused brief therapy, and many more.
I know clients are making meaningful progress in couples/marriage counseling from their verbal feedback and progress reports as well as their verbal and nonverbal interactions within therapy sessions.
Clients can supplement their time in couples/marriage counseling by spending quality time together, completing homework assignments, and discussing the benefits or value of their therapy sessions throughout the week.
To prepare for your first couples/marriage counseling session, discuss your desired goals and outcomes. Be open and willing to share freely and nonjudgmentally with each other in the therapeutic space.
Couples therapy and marriage counseling, also known as relationship counseling, helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. Some examples of common focuses within couples therapy and marriage counseling include:

At Thriveworks, Couples/marriage therapy is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples.
The Gottman Method of couples therapy is a research-supported approach designed to enhance relationships by bolstering the bond between partners, resolving conflicts, and fostering shared meaning in their relationship through comprehensive assessments and tailored interventions that improve communication, trust, and the overall health of the partnership.
If you’re facing persistent relationship problems, communication breakdowns, or unresolved conflicts that are impacting your emotional well-being and happiness, Couples/marriage therapy may be beneficial for you.
While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. Would you consider your relationship with your partner to be perfect? Probably not. Even the most “perfect” couples have their issues. As you know, relationships aren’t easy and take a lot of work. Sometimes it can feel like a never-ending uphill battle.
Take Vanessa and Jason, for example. They’ve been noticing that they don’t actually have a lot in common. This is driving a wedge between them because they’re always off doing their own things and never spending quality time together. Or what about Owen and Theresa who have been married for over a decade and are in the midst of piecing their marriage back together after infidelity. Regardless of what’s going on between you and your significant other, there is help in finding a resolution.
Marriage counselors and couples therapists have years of experience in helping couples get back to a healthy spot in their relationships. Luckily, these mental health professionals at Thriveworks Counseling in Memphis, TN are no different. We only work with the best counselors and therapists because we want you to have access to the quality mental health care you need.
