My go-to approach for helping people in family therapy is a mix of Gottman, solution focused, and narrative therapy. I prefer/enjoy/find the best benefit in using a mixture of these approaches because it allows the clients to identify behavior patterns in themselves and to see how those patterns impact their relationship. I find that addressing childhood traumas and environmental factors help bring awareness to not just what they do but why they do it.
