Stacie Davidson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in anxiety, depression, couples issues, mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma. Stacie has both professional and personal experience with how difficult, yet brave, it is to let go of the fear of judgment when coming into a counseling setting. Her first goal of therapy with any client is to build a trusting relationship and a safe, non-judgmental space where they can feel free to explore, understand, and challenge themselves.
Stacie completed his Master’s Degree in Education and Mental Health Counseling. Her experience providing counseling in the home, community, school, and office settings to all different demographics gives her a well-rounded ability to connect with people and meet them where they are. Once the therapeutic relationship is established, Stacie determines which techniques and interventions will best fit the needs of each client. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which entails exploring automatic and unhelpful thought patterns and restructuring them to be healthier, truer, and more helpful thoughts in living a happy and fulfilled life. This often calls for teaching mindfulness skills, which is a first step in learning to become aware and more in control of thoughts.
Stacie has confidence that everyone has the strength and ability to make positive changes in their lives. As a guide, she does not make changes for you but expects you to take responsibility for the changes that you want to make in your life through self-exploration and actively trying new and healthier ways of thinking and living.

Yes, there are therapists who help with anger via Anger management therapy. It’s a therapeutic process that an individual goes through to manage their anger and identify its triggers. They’re given clear instructions on how to improve their angry behavior as well as a safe space for opening up about their emotions.
Once an individual’s triggers are identified, anger management therapy focuses on helping the individual process and respond to these emotions in a more positive and productive manner. The anger management therapist will provide coping strategies and ultimately help their client take back control of their anger.
The five keys to mastering anger include identifying triggers, pausing before reacting, calmly expressing emotions, discovering constructive outlets for frustration, and seeking professional assistance if necessary. Acquiring these skills through Anger management therapy empowers individuals to effectively manage and navigate their anger.
The best therapy for anger management often involves cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals identify and change patterns of thinking and behavior related to anger.
Anger management therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Often, Anger management therapy lasts between 4-6 weeks. However, it can last longer, dependent on the individual’s needs.
Anger is a common and very normal emotion. It isn’t widely known, but anger is actually an emotion that has the ability to provide us benefits and to serve us well; however, more frequently it is accompanied by negativity and brings in its wake far from desirable consequences.
It’s much easier said than done, but anger can actually be used to show us areas in our life that can be improved. If an event triggers an angry feeling in us, we have the opportunity to identify the root cause of our angry emotions and also develop constructive solutions to prevent similar situations in the future. But if anger is left unchecked it becomes chronic, uncontrolled, and very unhealthy. It can have serious consequences for not only yourself, but for those all around you. Without properly managing our anger, it can eat away at our relationships, our health, and our personal state of mind and overall wellbeing.
Anger, just like other emotions, is neither good nor bad. Emotions simply convey us messages, and anger is communicating to you that a situation is upsetting or maybe even threatening. Unfortunately, we often find ourselves reacting to our angry emotions in a negative, reflex-like manner. We blame our anger for our actions as well as the results those actions bring with them. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.
At Thriveworks Charlottesville our team of therapists and counselors have years of training in the field of Anger Management, and we can help you to discover ways to prevent the negative consequences of anger and even help you to use anger for your good and also for the good of those in your sphere of influence.
If difficulty managing your anger is currently affecting your life in a negative way, please don’t wait! We’re ready to help you take on the difficult tasks of managing your anger, developing positive coping mechanisms for trigger events, and helping you heal your relationships.
