Through both personal and professional experience, I’ve seen how trauma and loss can reshape us and how, with compassionate care and evidence-based support, it’s possible to rebuild strength, balance, and a renewed sense of self. I aim to make mental health treatment feel like a conversation, not a clinical checklist.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 6 years of experience supporting individuals on their journey toward emotional well-being and stability. I’m passionate about helping clients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, mood instability, trauma, and relationship stressors. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where healing and self-discovery can take place. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working together to help them regain a sense of balance and control in their daily lives.
I earned my Master’s in Nursing from Western University of Health Sciences. My approach blends evidence-based psychiatric care with empathy and empowerment, focusing on each person’s unique story. I integrate medication management, education, and lifestyle strategies to support both symptom relief and long-term growth.
Taking the first step toward care is a powerful act of courage. My goal is to make you feel understood, valued, and supported as we work toward greater peace and stability. I’m here to listen without judgment and help you uncover your strength, purpose, and clarity. When you’re ready, I invite you to begin your journey toward healing with me.

Throughout my own journey, I have learned how powerful having a strong support is in developing the skills needed to commit to our values and goals, have love and compassion for ourselves and experiences, and build strong self-worth and self-efficacy to guide us through life. I strive to be that strong support for others and foster lasting change for personal development. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and understanding how experiences shape who we are.
My name is Rebecca and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have ten years of experience working with children and adults through crisis residential, outpatient case management, in-home services, and therapy. I support individuals with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, stress responses, or childhood traumas to process difficult events or emotions while identifying and aligning with personal values to work towards individual goals. I believe you are the expert of your own experience and having a safe person to witness and explore your experience is highly validating, fostering deeper connection with self and others.
I partner with individuals through Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to support emotional flexibility and process traumatic events or chronic stressors. My approach is grounded in empathy and collaboration while using trauma-informed and communication to reinforce a safe therapeutic alliance.
I commend you on taking this next step- while it might be overwhelming, you deserve to take the time and space to invest in your healing with support that feels safe, compassionate, and attuned to you. When you’re ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment and I’d be honored to support you.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. It helps people navigate their grief process and eventually accept, understand, and move forward from their loss. Thriveworks grief therapists in San Diego, CA have specific experience, training, and skills that enable them to best support grieving individuals.
Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in San Diego, CA will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
