About
As a woman who has experienced trauma throughout my life, I have a deep understanding of how to learn the skills to overcome life's challenges.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 5 years of experience helping individuals navigate trauma, substance use challenges, and major life transitions. I am passionate about supporting people as they heal, grow, and rediscover their sense of purpose. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and trust, creating a safe space where clients can explore difficult emotions and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver. I utilize evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and trauma-focused therapies to guide my clients toward emotional regulation, self-awareness, and personal growth.
I believe that through healing and self-discovery, my clients can achieve lasting change and fulfillment. If you’re ready to take the next step in your personal growth journey, I’d be honored to support you—schedule an appointment today to begin writing your next chapter.

As a Black, queer, lesbian, disabled veteran and aging practitioner, I bring lived experience and clinical care to create a nonjudgmental, collaborative space where clients can reflect on their life experiences, share their stories, uncover meaning, and build practical skills to cope and live with intention.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 11 years of experience supporting older adults, family caregivers, veterans, and individuals within LGBTQIA2S+ communities. As a Black, queer, lesbian, disabled veteran, I bring both lived experience and clinical expertise to my work. I often support clients navigating life transitions, caregiving stress, trauma, identity concerns, grief, and the emotional weight of long-held experiences.
I earned my Doctorate of Social Work from Tulane University. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, grounded in respect for lived experience. I integrate reflection, meaning-making, and practical coping skills to help clients process trauma, reduce overwhelm, and strengthen self-trust.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you have been carrying a lot for a long time. You do not have to have everything figured out. If you are seeking a thoughtful, nonjudgmental space to reflect, heal, and move forward at your own pace, I would be honored to support you.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

My go-to approach for helping people in dialectical behavior therapy is to help clients increase their ability to tolerate and effectively manage life's confusions, paradoxes, and ironies. I find the best benefit of using DBT is the four content areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT takes into consideration cultural values, developmental milestones, and the client's worldview.
I teach the following tool in dialectical behavior therapy: the ability to hold two or more things in balance that are in conflict, contrary, or mismatched yet both are real or true. Recovery and a strength-based perspective are the foundation for additional practices like chain analysis, radical acceptance, mindfulness, and meditation.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in dialectical behavior therapy when they are practicing on a daily basis and are able to summarize in session what's going on, how they feel about it, and how they want to respond to it without assigning values to themselves or others.
Clients can supplement their time in dialectical behavior therapy by completing assignments prior to sessions, being ready to review them in sessions, fully participating in the discussion, and identifying thoughts and emotions effectively.
For their first dialectical behavior therapy session, an individual should be prepared to discuss strengths, obstacles for reaching goals, skills that optimize life satisfaction, and motivation for change.
At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with therapists at Thriveworks in Pueblo, CO is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
