I am a Resident in Counseling with 1 year of experience supporting clients through life’s challenges. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults, with a particular focus on military-connected individuals, including service members, veterans, and their families. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and rooted in respect for each client’s lived experience. I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood and empowered to grow.

My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is cognitive behavioral therapy. I prefer to use CBT with my couples because this evidence-based therapy helps couples identify and change unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to relationship difficulties.
The tools I teach in couples/marriage counseling consist of interactive activities I feel will assist the couple with accomplishing their goals for counseling. Some of the tools I teach in couples/marriage counseling are:
I know when a couple is making meaningful progress in couples/marriage counseling when they are able to practice and display the tools that are being taught during the sessions, including implementing the fair fighting rules, showing appreciation, and exhibiting effective communication skills. I will also ask my couples to evaluate their progress in and out of the sessions. After ongoing counseling sessions, most report they are proud and happy with their progress.
Clients can supplement their time in couples/marriage counseling with homework assignments that are assigned after some of the sessions. Most of my clients have asked for homework assignments. I also ask my couples to implement the tools they have learned in sessions between the sessions.
