About
As someone from a background that did not always understand the importance of mental health, I want to ensure that these needs are provided for all.
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 3 years of experience providing compassionate mental health care across the lifespan. My background as both a nurse and a provider has shaped my calm, steady, and holistic approach to treatment. I help individuals navigate anxiety, depression, stress, and daily challenges by creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood.
I earned my master’s degree in nursing from Ohio University and use a patient-centered, safety-focused approach to guide care. I draw from methods such as motivational interviewing to tailor treatment to each person’s needs and goals, helping clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change.
I am committed to offering a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your mental health needs at a pace that feels comfortable. Your story matters, and you deserve care that honors your voice. When you feel ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment so we can take the next steps in your healing together.

Dee works with clients 18 to 99 years old. Her clients have presented with issues including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and relationship difficulties. Having been a hospice social worker, Dee has also counseled individuals and family members after a loved one has been given a terminal diagnosis.
Dee completed her Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master of Education (MEd) in Rehabilitation Counseling at Springfield College. Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, clients develop an understanding of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and are encouraged to cultivate flexibility in the process, leading to change in automatic problem-solving responses. Other techniques used include mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation techniques. Dee is also an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider.
Using a conversational style, Dee collaborates with her clients, whether an individual, a couple, or family members, to identify areas of concern. Together, she and her client analyze what the perceived difficulties are and identify achievable goals. In a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, Dee encourages open communication to resolve conflicts from misunderstandings.

Not every child grows from infancy through their adolescent years without experiencing bumps along the way. Sometimes children encounter emotions, feelings or behaviors that cause problems in their lives and the lives of those around them. Families often worry when their child or teenager has difficulties coping with things—feeling sad, can’t sleep, gets involved with drugs or can’t get along with family members or friends.
At times, parents may wonder if a change in their child is something that is the normal course of growing up or if it is a problem. Trying to find out what is going on with your child is sometimes a challenge in itself, because they may not want to talk about it, are not able to put their feelings or thoughts into words or are at too young of an age to be able to communicate it effectively.
If your child is experiencing a “bump” along the road of life and it has been going on for weeks, even months, it is wise to seek the help of a therapist or a counselor at Thriveworks in McLean, VA Child and Adolescent Therapy/Counseling. When your child is having difficulties with relationships, a blended family, gender identity or the many other issues that may occur in life, contact the therapists and counselors at Thriveworks in McLean, VA who are professionally licensed and have years of experience in the field.
