My go-to approach for treating anxiety is personalizing the treatment to the client and their needs. I find the best benefit in dialectal behavior therapy because of some of the shortcomings in cognitive behavioral therapy and because of DBT's emphasis on mindful responses, certain skills for responding to distress, and in accepting two opposite thoughts/emotions/ideas.

I know a client is making meaningful progress in anxiety therapy when they tell me they experience less frequent and less intense anxiety, say they feel calmer, and have the tools to better respond to future anxiety.
Clients can supplement their time in anxiety therapy with brief journaling documenting anxious thoughts and moments when anxiety was more intense.
