What springs to mind when someone says ‘eating disorder’? Anorexia and bulimia are the most common answers to this question. However, Binge Eating Disorder is actually far more common than these disorders. In women alone, experts suggest up to 5% of the population suffer from B.E.D. Common symptoms revolve around a complete inability to stop eating at meal times, even when completely full. Intense feelings of guilt, anger and shame often follow this experience.
If you’re experiencing symptoms of Binge Eating Disorder or you’ve been diagnosed, consider reaching out to Thriveworks Chesterfield for help. We offer compassionate care, provide evening and weekend appointment options, offer in-person and online care, accept most major insurances, and so much more.
Left alone, the problems that develop make it very hard to live with B.E.D and they often end up spiraling out of control. Heart disease, diabetes and obesity may develop over time and severely affect the quality of your life. Psychological problems also occur, social anxiety, intense guilt, and hiding whilst eating are all very common. Serious medical conditions like clinical depression also develop frequently.
Knowing the dangers and fixing the problem are two different issues entirely. Luckily, clinically proven treatments exist; one of the more effective methods is the counseling and psychotherapy.
We tailor the counseling process to every individual client; we work with you from the introductory call up until the final session. We do this in a holistic fashion to put you on the road to recovery.
Thriveworks Chesterfield Counseling and Coaching knows how hard it can be to ask for help, but please do not hesitate, pick up the phone now and give us a call. We want to set you on the path to beating B.E.D. Reach out today.
