About
I offer a warm, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach that honors each client’s story while supporting healing, growth, and resilience.
I am a Master’s Level Counselor with 13 years of experience providing direct care and outpatient counseling. I work primarily with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress related to work, family, or identity. I also support individuals navigating complex medical or developmental concerns, helping them build emotional stability and stronger coping skills.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Merrimack College. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, integrating evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and strength-based therapy to support emotional regulation and insight.
In our work together, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we move at a pace that feels safe and empowering. I am committed to meeting you with empathy and respect as we develop practical tools to help you heal, grow, and create a more balanced life.

As a queer clinician, my work centers authentic connection and safety while honoring how lived experience, identity, relationships and larger systems intersect in shaping each person’s story.
I'm Sarah, LCSW (she/her), with a background in anti-poverty, child welfare, and family systems work. Much of my professional experience includes supporting individuals and families navigating financial stress, caregiving roles, system involvement, and intergenerational challenges. I often work with young people and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected while seeking stability, advocacy, and more sustainable paths forward for themselves and their families.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and systems-aware. I draw from family systems and strengths-based frameworks, centering safety, collaboration, and self- and community-care. I help clients reflect on patterns, navigate complex systems, and build practical tools rooted in their values and lived experience.
So many people arrive in therapy carrying stress shaped by systems, relationships, and responsibility. I work to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and encouraged to take the next step at your own pace.

Online marriage counseling is a digital version of couples therapy, where couples can connect with licensed Thriveworks Amherst therapists through video calls to address and resolve relationship issues. This approach offers convenience and privacy, making it accessible for couples with busy schedules or those preferring a more private setting. It covers various relationship challenges like communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy, and aims to help couples build a healthier, more fulfilling partnership.
Online marriage counseling at Thriveworks functions by connecting both of you with a licensed therapist through our secure digital platforms, allowing you to engage in therapy sessions remotely. These sessions take place via private video calls, enabling couples to discuss their relationship concerns, objectives, and obstacles with a qualified therapist. Together, you’ll work on developing strategies for resolving issues like communication problems, conflict resolution, trust, and intimacy, among others.
Thriveworks online marriage counseling in Amherst, MA is conducted virtually through online therapy and in person at local Thriveworks locations. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The duration of online marriage counseling can widely vary, depending on the specific needs and goals of the couple, as well as the progress achieved during therapy. Typically, online marriage counseling may encompass a series of sessions held over several months, with sessions usually scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, the therapy’s length can be adapted according to the couple’s response to treatment and their therapeutic objectives.
Relationships are beautiful, fulfilling, messy, and frustrating. Marriages might be a promise to love unconditionally, but it isn’t a promise for smooth sailing. All relationships go through growing pains and come up against challenges that test their bond.
Strains in your relationship are not a sign your relationship is broken or even unhealthy. It is something we all go through, and it might mean some slight adjustments have to be made or communication opened up. With a Thriveworks Amherst online marriage counselor, you and your partner can come out of this tricky time stronger than before. Reach out today for help.
Online counseling is also known as teletherapy, and it is a great way to access professional, licensed counseling from the comfort of your home or office or another private space. For the most part, online counseling is the same as in-person counseling. It’s:
As counselors, our job is not to get you to see our way. Our job is to help you see your way, the most healthy and fruitful version of it. We are your guides and occasional mentor, but you are still in control of the direction of your life. Marriage therapy is about your goals, your relationship, and your future. Conversing over telehealth rather than in person doesn’t change those core truths of counseling.
Specifically, marriage counseling is as wide as there are marriages out there. Whatever you and your partner are facing, talking to someone can open up communication and encourage healing and growth.
Thriveworks Amherst in Western Mass has seen couples for:
These are only a few examples. Whatever you are struggling with, you don’t have to keep quiet about it. There is no shame in having problems in your marriage; you won’t find a marriage out there that hasn’t struggled! There is no problem too “big” or too “small” for a Pioneer Valley counselor. If you need an outside, unbiased, empathetic ear, we are here for you.
First off, teletherapy usually takes the form of a video conference. Secondly, teletherapy has been proven to be just as affective, and in some cases even more affective, than in-person counseling. When you meet in the comfort of your own home, your mind and body are more at ease. Research has seen people more willing to address difficult problems and accept change when they do therapy at home.
As for the actual content of a marriage counseling session, not much will change from in-person to online counseling. In general, there will be three stages that a marriage counselor will take you through. They are of course very flexible based on what you and your partner are coming in with and where you want to go.
Marriage is not all love confessions and happily-ever-after. It is hard work, and sometimes it might feel impossible. That doesn’t mean your relationship is bad or doomed to fail. Thriveworks Amherst is here for you virtually for all of your marriage counseling needs. Plus, we offer evening and weekend sessions, accept most major insurances, and provide additional benefits. Reach out today to get started.
