My approach for treating depression is being solution of focused using evidence based techniques that can be put in use the day of the session.

I teach the following tools in depression therapy.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: understanding where the clients foundational thinking started, breaking down of distorted thoughts, understanding automatic thoughts are not true and changing negative thoughts to positive thoughts.
  • Mindfulness: Learning how to stay in the present moment by being mindful of your surroundings. This technique helps slow down the brain to eliminate racing thoughts and decrease anxious feelings.
  • Solution Focused which entail looking at how to find solutions to feelings like you cannot do anything and making a structured schedule the client can work with.
