About
I identify as a professional who understands the need to heal and live a balanced life. You deserve to be the best version of yourself.
My name is Nicole Jackson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience. My passion lies in helping adults, particularly within the criminal justice system, through mental health counseling, trauma education, and substance use disorder treatment. I create a supportive environment where clients can heal, grow, and pursue positive change.
I earned my Master’s in Community Counseling from Mount Mary University with a focus on mental health and trauma. I also completed specialized training in sex offender treatment and trauma counseling. My counseling approaches include cognitive-behavior therapy and corrective thinking techniques, which I adapt to meet each client’s needs.
I believe every person deserves the opportunity to heal, find balance, and reach their full potential. My goal is to walk alongside you in your journey, providing a safe and supportive space where we can work together toward lasting growth and well-being.

Psychologists are mental health professionals that provide psychotherapy services and diagnoses for their clients. They have more research-focused training than most therapists, as they are more medically educated and receive a more general education about therapeutic approaches and theory.
Thriveworks psychologists in Waukesha, WI provide standard psychotherapy services, tailoring treatment to each client and their unique concerns. However, they can also provide diagnoses to clients when appropriate, something that therapists and counselors cannot do. Finally, in some states in the U.S., they are allowed to prescribe medication.
Psychological treatment at Thriveworks Waukesha is very individualized and specific to each client, which means that the duration of treatment is often varied depending on a client’s condition or disorder, the state of their symptoms, and their specific goals.
You’re probably familiar with one of the most popular movies of the 1990s: Good Will Hunting. The film follows the story of a janitor who’s skilled in mathematics but is held back by his difficulty processing past events and his current emotions. With the help of his psychologist, played by Robin Williams, Will Hunting finds new mental wellbeing and growth from confronting uncomfortable realities he’s been hiding from.
Even though it’s just a movie, Good Will Hunting does illustrate a crucial way in which mental health can be improved: by opening up to a psychologist. The concept might sound a little painful—but psychologists are trained to help. Going through life’s ups and downs, the pain of events like divorce or death, and more, can be difficult to manage alone. Plus, when we don’t bounce back from these heavy issues, other aspects of our lives begin to suffer.
Don’t be mistaken; occasionally feeling down or overwhelmed is part of life. The problem occurs when these negative thoughts and emotions interfere with our relationships at home, at work, and in other places. Fortunately, psychologists can help you with these things. They’re mental health professionals, with experience finding creative and successful solutions to the mental health challenges of today.
At Thriveworks in Waukesha, WI, we believe that therapy can benefit anyone, at any point in their life. And the industry-leading mental health services we provide are due in part to our excellent psychologists. Even if you’re not familiar with therapy, or if you’ve got no idea where to begin, we want to welcome you and tell you a little bit more about what our psychologists can do to improve your cognitive wellbeing.
Psychologists are licensed mental health professionals. Their job is to engage with their clients to help them process personal issues and events that become disruptive. Some of the more common mental health concerns that our psychologists treat and address include:
If it appears that you or someone close to you is experiencing one of these mental health conditions, scheduling an appointment with a Thriveworks psychologist might help. It’s important to note that different mental health conditions manifest differently for everyone, so getting the opinion of an expert is highly important. At Thriveworks in Waukesha, WI, we know that every client is different—so we’re here to listen.
One of the main things that separate our psychologists from our psychiatrists is that psychologists are unable to prescribe medication for your treatment plan. While psychologists often attain high educational degrees and may hold doctorates in the psychology field, they aren’t a medical doctor like a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist may (depending on the client) prescribe you medication to help you find relief, sometimes in conjunction with behavioral therapy. Ultimately, some behavioral and mood disorders are better treated by psychiatry; other, more generalized mental health concerns can be treated and addressed by a licensed psychologist.
But regardless of the type of therapist that you see at Thriveworks in Waukesha, WI, you’ll get matched with a mental health professional who listens and cares. They’ll partner with you to find a plan that suits your unique situation. Our psychologists specialize in multiple types of talk therapy, and they establish meaningful connections with their clients to foster better mental health and wellbeing.
When you decide to call our Waukesha, WI office, you’ll be greeted by one of our scheduling specialists, who can assist you with setting up your insurance and finding the therapist and schedule that works best for you. We prioritize mental health as much as we do physical wellbeing; that’s why we want to make booking with us as easy as scheduling a doctor’s appointment. Those who choose Thriveworks get access to:
Our first priority is to provide you with industry-leading mental health services. Your mental health is our number one priority. While searching for a psychologist can be overwhelming, there’s nothing wrong with using counseling to understand and treat the obstacles in your way. Your personal life doesn’t need to suffer either; and when you connect with a Thriveworks psychologist, you’re gaining their insight and experience as well.
