I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with 3 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, couples, and families. My background also includes over 15 years in the healthcare field, which has strengthened my ability to help people improve their relationships with themselves, their partners, and their families. My work focuses on helping clients recognize and transform recurring patterns, reduce blame and shame, and create healthier ways of relating that foster understanding, compassion, and connection.
I earned my master’s in marriage and family therapy from Regis University. I use a humanistic, systemic, and experiential approach, integrating emotionally focused therapy, internal family systems, the Gottman method, and relational life therapy to help clients understand and change unhelpful patterns in their lives.
If you struggle with conflict, disconnection, or communication challenges, you’re not alone. It takes courage to ask for support, and taking that step is the first part of healing. I would be honored to walk beside you as you navigate your journey toward growth, self-awareness, and more fulfilling relationships. Let’s work together toward meaningful change.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

My go-to approach is to help the adolescent create a unique self-identity, which is the essence of adolescence. This has to work in the context of their social milieu. Adolescents have a greater chance of getting derailed as evidenced by fear of not being accepted by same-sex friends and not being attractive to the opposite sex.
I use DBT, art therapy, and homework based on the presenting problem i.e. depression, anxiety, and behavior modification.
Adolescents will report better emotional regulation, stronger relationships, and increased acceptance of self.
Clients can complete homework and be prepared to review it in sessions.
Clients can begin to think about their goals for treatment.
Teen counseling helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst teens include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and problematic relationships with food.
Teen counseling works by using multiple techniques, tailored to fit the teen’s unique needs — based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks teen therapists in Pueblo have the expertise and experience to help young individuals at their level.
Signs that teens might need Teen counseling can be very subjective, as they are experiencing many changes and can have intense reactions to them. As parents, you know your child best and are best equipped to judge whether certain reactions are standard behaviors for your teen or whether they might be hinting at a larger problem. Even so, there are a few common signs and events that often point to a need for therapy, such as experiencing divorce or loss, grief, consistent low moods, teens distancing themselves and becoming isolated, losing interest in hobbies, excessive anger or irritability, substance use issues, and suicidal ideation, among others.
Teen counseling providers at Thriveworks in Pueblo, CO offer both in person and online therapy by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of teen counseling depends on your teen’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, teen counseling sessions will last for several months.
Thriveworks Pueblo understands that you want what is best for your teenager. You’ve probably tried reaching them through other methods already, but to no prevail. A growing teenager’s brain is unlike any adult brain. They see the world and react to situations differently then adults do. This can be a beautiful thing! But it also makes it difficult to reach them when they’re struggling.
Thriveworks Pueblo is here for you and your adolescent. Our counselors have years of experience and training that helps us empathize with and understand your teenager. It’s not their fault they are struggling, sometimes life just hurts. Thriveworks Pueblo is there when the blows come. For more information or to schedule an appointment today, give Thriveworks Pueblo a call at 719-838-6383.
Thriveworks Pueblo adolescent counseling is nonjudgmental and entirely confidential. We can be a safe spot your teenager comes to process, discover, and heal. There is no problem too big or too small for our Pueblo therapists; whatever you are dealing with, we are here to help.
Some of the more common topics discussed in adolescent therapy include:
Being a teenager is hard enough. Our job is to ease some of the burden and provide coping mechanisms and self-awareness that will pave the way for your teenager for years to come. Adolescent counseling at Thriveworks Pueblo also prioritizes family bonds. We understand how important family is, and we will do our best to preserve and strengthen the bonds between your teenagers.
Thriveworks Pueblo creates our therapy sessions to best meet your needs, goals, and doubts. No person or their struggle is the same, so no counseling session should be either!
For some adolescents, a simple safe space to rant out their feelings and frustrations is what they need. We provide a professional third-party listening ear and guidance to help teenagers make sense of the crazy world around them and inside them.
For other teenagers, they might need or want something more. In addition to the traditional talk therapy described above, Thriveworks Pueblo adolescent counselors have training and expertise in:
Unfortunately, the teenage years are full of things a little darker than prom dances and sport games. But there is always hope. Thriveworks Pueblo is excited to walk beside your adolescent as they grow and heal.
