I work with clients on replacing negative self-talk with positive self-talk.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness when doing depression counseling.
I see progress when the client has achieved treatment goals/objectives. For example, one of the objectives might be to decrease isolation, and the client reports they are getting outside more.
Clients can work on being aware of what their depression triggers are and changing unhelpful behavior. For example, if they are isolating themselves at home, they should notice what that behavior is doing and try to get outside more.
Clients can think about and maybe write down the triggers of their depression.
