About
As a social worker with lived experience and a deep commitment to recovery and mental wellness, I understand the challenges of navigating life transitions and finding strength in difficult times.
I am Owen Guthrie, a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern, with 7 years of experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. With a background in both criminal justice and mental health, I understand how difficult it can feel to break free from cycles that no longer serve you. I partner with clients who feel weighed down but are ready for change, helping them build healthier coping skills, strengthen relationships, and uncover their inner resilience.
I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Grand Canyon University. My approach draws from my experience in criminal justice and mental health to support individuals in breaking unhealthy cycles, building coping skills, and discovering their resilience to create lasting, meaningful change.
I know how overwhelming life’s challenges can feel, and I believe no one should face them alone. I provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and valued. I invite you to take the first step toward healing and growth by reaching out today—you don’t have to navigate this journey by yourself.

My style is warm, collaborative, and purposeful. I use a client-centered approach that blends practical skill-building, insight-oriented reflection, psychoeducation, and relationship-focused work. Clients can expect a safe, affirming space, clear goals, and support that is compassionate, structured, and paced to their needs.
You do not have to carry stress, pain, or uncertainty alone. Therapy can be a place to feel understood, regain clarity, and begin making meaningful change. When you are ready, I invite you to take the next step and schedule an appointment.

Whatever is causing you trouble, the Christian counselors at Thriveworks Fort Lauderdale can provide you the guidance you long for.
Christian counseling is similar to a normal counseling session. Where it differs is with a Christian counselor; they understand your desire to walk with Christ and your longing to draw near to Him when times get rough. When speaking with a fellow Christian, you can find relief in your similarities and life choices. During a Christian counseling session, you can expect your therapist to combine Christian practices with the principles of psychology to create the ideal treatment plan for you. In Christian counseling, scripture, prayer, and biblical lessons will help you on your journey to finding relief.
It’s important to note that the goal of Christian counseling is not to condemn you for your wrongdoings or sins you aren’t proud of. The goal is to work through these obstacles to create a greater sense of fulfilment, improve your relationships, and overall become a better version of you.
Are you struggling with maintaining healthy relationships, your job, a big move, addiction…? Whatever it may be, a partnership with a Christian counselor could be the answer to your prayers.
