About
As a licensed mental health and addictions counselor, I partner with individuals, families, and caregivers to navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clarity, and culturally grounded resilience.
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) with 37 years of experience supporting clients through life transitions, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and identity concerns. I help individuals, families, caregivers, and grandfamilies build clarity, coping skills, and emotional grounding. Together, we explore what is working, what is not, and what needs to shift so you can move toward meaningful healing and balance.
I earned my doctorate in counselor education from the University of William and Mary. I use motivational interviewing, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and strength-based approaches to support resilience and restore stability. My style is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, and practical—clients can expect clear strategies they can use right away.
I believe you deserve a space where you feel seen, supported, and understood. Healing is possible, and you do not have to navigate it alone. When you are ready, I am here to help you take the next step toward clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being.

My approach for working with people processing PTSD and trauma memories is EMDR therapy. The adaptive information processing approach that EMDR offers allows clients to update disturbing experiences and move toward a more emotionally healthy life.
EMDR therapy offers internal and external resourcing tools that build a sense of security and safety within the client's nervous system and integrate into their core beliefs about themselves.
The client recognizes shifts towards meaningful progress with EMDR therapy when the memories of the events no longer hold negative, highly reactive activation for them.
Clients may choose to supplement their time in EMDR therapy by integrating the internal resourcing practices taught within sessions.
EMDR offers processing without the need to talk about all the details of your hardships as you move toward posttraumatic growth. The preparation is mostly about your readiness to be curious about your own healing path.
At Thriveworks, Trauma/PTSD therapy involves dedicated efforts to address and navigate through past and/or recent traumatic events. Therapists specializing in trauma create a secure environment to process and heal from these experiences, aiming to reduce trauma-related symptoms and enhance overall quality of life.
Our Thriveworks providers use Trauma/PTSD therapy treatments like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing EMDR, CBT, and exposure therapy with the goal of helping clients process the traumatic events they have experienced so that they can to start feeling safe and secure again.
The symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can vary but often include:
The best way to overcome PTSD triggers is to seek the assistance of a professional therapist, such as those at Thriveworks, who can help you to understand and treat your PTSD triggers.
In most cases, a therapist who specializes in Trauma/PTSD therapy is the best type of mental health professional to address the symptoms of PTSD.
PTSD/trauma therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
If a client is working through a single traumatic event that occurred as an adult, trauma or PTSD therapy may only take a few months, but in general, it can take a year or more to effectively treat trauma symptoms and PTSD. The duration of treatment is highly dependent on the client and the severity of their symptoms.
The success rate of therapy for PTSD depends entirely on the individual’s symptoms, commitment to attending sessions, and personal abilities.
