As a Black, queer woman and therapist with my own healing journey, I understand how identity, trauma, and survival shape the nervous system and how powerful it can be to feel truly seen and supported.
I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 15 years of experience across schools, hospitals, community mental health, and research settings. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, life transitions, relationship concerns, and the ongoing impact of unresolved or overwhelming experiences. I help clients who are feeling disconnected from themselves or stuck in patterns understand how stress and past experiences affect both mind and body, while building practical tools that support nervous system regulation, emotional clarity, and grounded decision-making over time.
I earned my Master of Science in mental health counseling from Georgia State University. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, somatic-aware, and relational therapy.
Therapy is a collaborative process rooted in respect, curiosity, and care. I strive to create a space where you feel supported in exploring what matters most to you, at a pace that feels sustainable and empowering. If you’re considering therapy, you don’t have to have everything figured out to begin.

I understand that life and relationships can feel overwhelming when we are working at it alone, sometimes that extra ear is all the support we need.
Ja'Nay Perry is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) that specializes in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, ASD (autism spectrum disorder) related problems, and intimacy issues. Ja'Nay has years of experience in the mental health field starting as a registered behavior technician (RBT) and later going into the counseling field. While she started off primarily working with children & adolescents, she has now expanded her focus to individual adults and couples, focusing on intimacy, communication, and relationship management.
Ja'Nay holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Prairie View A&M University and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia. She has built her foundation on believing that when it comes to our mental health a lot of the thoughts and feelings we experience stem from our subconscious trying to communicate that there is something that we need to tend to. Her framework is growth-oriented and client-centered.
Ja'Nay believes that it does not matter if you are little or big; when we are facing life's challenges alone, things can naturally feel like a lot. So if you are looking for a holistic approach, a non-judgmental space, and a practice rooted in collaboration/empowerment - you have found the right person.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

At Thriveworks, Couples/marriage therapy is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples.
The Gottman Method of couples therapy is a research-supported approach designed to enhance relationships by bolstering the bond between partners, resolving conflicts, and fostering shared meaning in their relationship through comprehensive assessments and tailored interventions that improve communication, trust, and the overall health of the partnership.
If you’re facing persistent relationship problems, communication breakdowns, or unresolved conflicts that are impacting your emotional well-being and happiness, Couples/marriage therapy may be beneficial for you.
While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
