I am a Resident in Counseling with over 14 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. I’ve supported clients in foster care, crisis stabilization, and substance abuse treatment, and work with people of all ages facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life transitions. My passion lies in helping others improve self-esteem, manage stress, strengthen relationships, and find healing from past experiences.
I earned my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Norfolk State University. My approach is collaborative and supportive, using cognitive behavioral therapy to help you recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns. I focus on building resilience, self-awareness, and the practical tools needed to create lasting, meaningful growth.

Renea Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over a year of supervised clinical counseling experience, working with seniors, adults, adolescents, families, and couples in private practice settings. Renea also has over 14 years of experience in school counseling. Having grown up in a multi-generational home during her adolescent years and having served both the comprehensive and exceptional education school settings, she has a deep-rooted admiration and respect for the older population, parents, educators, caregivers of children with unique needs and abilities. She seeks to provide support to those in need of an extra dose of reassurance, unconditional positive regard, and relevant coping skills to take care of themselves as they take care of others around them.
As a former Peace Corps Volunteer (South Africa 1999-2001) who earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, Renea believes it is paramount to show honor to all people and the history we each bring into this world we share. Liz was sleeping sweetly one evening when all of a sudden she wasn’t. She woke with a knot in her stomach and an elephant on her chest. Liz was perspiring and breathing heavily even though she had just been relaxed and asleep. Her heart raced. Right before she was ready to call an ambulance, the feelings faded. Did she have a heart attack or a stroke? Liz decided to go see the doctor in the morning, and there, she found out that this was a panic attack.
