About
The arm of social justice and the hand of compassion can be used to wash the feet of others.
I am a licensed certified social worker-clinical (LCSW-C) with 22 years of experience providing therapy across a wide range of clinical settings. I have worked with abused and neglected children, individuals experiencing homelessness, crisis intervention teams, and clients seeking faith-based counseling. My work spans individuals, couples, and families, with a strong focus on helping clients navigate trauma, life stressors, and emotional challenges.
I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. My orientation is grounded in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theory, and I utilize solution-focused and reality therapy approaches. In cases involving trauma or abuse, I incorporate ego-strengthening techniques to support resilience, healthy adaptation, and emotional functioning.
Clients often respond well to my practical, evidence-based approach to therapy. I strive to provide competent, thoughtful care tailored to your unique needs and goals. If you are seeking a clinician who values collaboration, insight, and meaningful progress, I look forward to supporting you on your therapeutic journey.

Domestic violence therapy is a specialized form of counseling that helps victims and their families heal from abusive relationships. It is a crucial component of the broader efforts to address and combat domestic violence, a pattern of abusive behaviors within intimate relationships that can encompass physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or economic abuse.
In domestic violence therapy, therapists create a safe and supportive environment. Domestic violence therapy is often part of a broader support network that includes legal assistance, shelters, and community resources. Its aim is to break the cycle of abuse, promote safety, and foster healthier relationships.
Domestic violence therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Domestic violence therapy can last for a few weeks, months, or longer, depending on the individual’s exact needs and preferences.
Have you been the victim of domestic abuse? Are you afraid to seek out help? Do you worry about what it’ll be like or that your counselor will try to make you do something you’re afraid to do? Are you still in the relationship and you’re afraid you can’t get help until you leave it? We understand your fear but we are here for only one reason: to help you. If you think you could benefit from domestic abuse counseling, reach out to Thriveworks Columbia, MD.
People often worry about working with a counselor because they believe they’ll have to reveal their innermost secrets the moment they start counseling. The reality is that no two counseling sessions are the same – just like no two clients are the same.
At Thriveworks Columbia, MD Counseling & Coaching we start by understanding your story. That doesn’t mean we need all your secrets. We just need a sense of who you are and what you want from counseling. Even if you don’t know exactly what you want, simply letting us know that you’re not doing well and would like to be doing better is enough. We can take it from there.
The truth is that working through your issues can be painful and it can be scary. It’s also true that there may never come a “perfect” time to leave an abusive partner or deal with the fallout of that relationship. However, while we will be here to listen and offer suggestions an ideas, we will never try to force you or control you. We’re on your side.
Are you ready to take a leap of faith? Or are you still scared? Think about it this way: what do you really have to lose? If you’ve reached out far enough to consider counseling then you’re likely not happy with your life. As long as you keep doing what you’ve been doing, there’s no reason to expect that will change. Take a chance on yourself and contact Thriveworks Columbia, MD Counseling & Coaching.
