About
My own experiences with trauma allow me to offer deeper empathy and understanding, and because I know the courage it takes to seek help, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where every client feels heard, valued, and appreciated.
I am an LCSW, LCADC, CCS, and SAP with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Substance Abuse Counseling from Ramapo College of NJ (2012), and a Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling from Rutgers University. I have extensive experience across inpatient, IOP, and PHP levels of care, working with individuals ages 10 through adulthood, and progressed from therapist to Clinical Director. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders, and am committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care.
I utilize a range of evidence-based modalities, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Through compassion, empathy, and collaborative effort, I support individuals in their healing process and am honored to walk alongside them on their journey toward lasting wellness.
Taking the first step toward support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. I strive to create a warm, safe, and supportive space where you feel heard and valued. Healing is possible, and together we can work toward meaningful growth and lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

My go-to approach for helping people in PTSD/trauma therapy is integrative trauma therapy. I prefer this approach because it allows me to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and experiences. By combining elements from DBT, EMDR, internal family systems (IFS), somatic therapy, and attachment-focused techniques, I can address the complexities of trauma from multiple angles. This approach facilitates a holistic healing process, addressing not only the cognitive aspects of trauma but also the emotional, somatic, and relational dimensions. Through integrative trauma therapy, clients can experience profound healing and transformation, leading to greater resilience and well-being.
I teach the following tools in PTSD/trauma therapy: mindfulness/grounding skills, emotion regulation, positive resourcing, exploration of conscious and subconscious inner parts/beliefs/emotions, and more.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in PTSD/trauma therapy when they can stay more grounded in their window of tolerance most of their day, their mood gets better, and they experience a decrease in intrusive negative self-talk, beliefs, and memories.
Clients can supplement their time in PTSD/trauma therapy through support resources, engaging in activities that calm their nervous system and bring them joy (yoga, art, nature walks, etc.), and practicing grounding techniques and mindfulness skills daily.
The best way to come into therapy is with an open mind, curiosity, and a desire to learn and heal.
Trauma therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on treating the psychological impact of traumatic events on individuals. Trauma therapy helps people process and heal from their trauma by guiding them through their trauma in a compassionate and supportive way, allowing clients to feel the full scope of what happened to them and eventually move on from the event(s). This process helps people who have experienced trauma find ways to feel safe in their lives.
Trauma therapy will often require individuals to walk through their experiences in a controlled and compassionate setting (unless the client has a dissociative disorder) so that they can fully process the event, an activity that will allow them to move on from what happened and feel safe again. Thriveworks Toms River therapists will also help clients learn healthy coping mechanisms to deal with their symptoms outside of therapy.
Thriveworks trauma counseling in Toms River, NJ is conducted both in person and online through online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
If an individual is working through a single event that occurred during adulthood, they may only need a few months of treatment. However, in instances of childhood trauma or repeated traumatic events, therapy may continue over the course of years. Trauma therapy usually ends when the client believes they have met their therapeutic goals, however long that takes to occur. Thriveworks therapists in Toms River, NJ will continue to provide care for as long as necessary to help clients meet their therapeutic needs.
