About
As a woman who has experienced both personal trauma and anxiety, I understand the weight of carrying such fear and worry as one seeks emotional healing and joy.
I am a licensed certified social worker (LCSW) with 5 years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and challenging family or relationship dynamics. I help individuals build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and navigate stress with greater clarity and confidence. My goal is to create a grounded, compassionate space where clients feel understood and supported as they work toward meaningful change.
I hold a master’s degree in social work from New York University and have worked with clients in both in-person and virtual settings. My approach draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and strengths-focused interventions to help clients manage symptoms, increase resilience, and make sustainable progress.
You deserve a space where you feel safe, respected, and empowered to explore your experiences without judgment. Together, we’ll identify what’s holding you back, build practical tools that fit your life, and move at a pace that feels right for you. I would be honored to support your relief, growth, and balance.

I’m Jacob Glose, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and Arkansas with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I provide individual and couples therapy and specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational challenges. I am trained in EMDR and offer trauma-informed care for clients looking to process difficult past experiences and move forward with more clarity and stability. My approach to therapy is collaborative and honest. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is essential.
I build that through consistency, trust, & clear communication. Early sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, identifying your goals, and creating a plan that fits your needs. From there, the work involves exploring patterns, thoughts, and emotions that may be contributing to distress or keeping you stuck.
Beginning therapy can feel uncertain, but I work to create a supportive and steady space. My approach helps clients make sense of their experiences and build the insight and tools needed to face life’s challenges with more compassion, confidence, and direction.

A go-to approach for helping people in family therapy is to get to know the family early on both as a family and then individually. I prefer having an initial family intake to assess their general cognitive, mental, and emotional awareness of one another, and how they communicate and operate as a family, and then as we move into therapeutic goals, sprinkle in brief, individual sessions to check in with each family member to ensure everyone is aligned.
The following tools in therapy are helpful:
A client is making meaningful progress in family therapy when symptoms improve via assessments. Assessments can be visual, auditory, about changes in patterns of communication, physically-given assessments, etc. They are also making progress when the family is providing cognitive, mental, and emotionally agreeable evidence of proven progress both within and outside of the therapy room.
Clients can supplement their time in family therapy with additional take-home assignments from the therapist that are similar to that week's session. This will provide consistency of cognitive reinforcement for the family in between sessions.
To prepare for their first family therapy session, a family can discuss and agree upon their reason for attending therapy, what kind of therapist and who they want to lead their family sessions, discuss why they believe family therapy would be beneficial, and how they want to attend family therapy (ex. online vs. in-person). Another suggestion is to decide if any person wants to also be in individual therapy to supplement their family sessions.
Family therapy helps families resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships. It is led by qualified mental health professionals like psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who have extensive training in family dynamics and group communication.
Thriveworks family therapists in St Louis, MO usually begin by asking what everyone’s goals are for family counseling. Family members may need help with very specific issues or with general relationship functioning. But there are three main purposes in family counseling: to educate, to counsel, and to strengthen. Thriveworks also offers online family therapy and in-person services, so you may all meet in an office together or join a video call from your home depending on everyone’s location and availability.
The most effective form of Family therapy will often depend on the family itself, as there are many types of family therapy for therapists to use as they see fit in order to best meet the needs of their clients. However, one of the most commonly used types of family therapy is structural family therapy (SFT). SFT focuses specifically on family dynamics and interactions, looking at how they shape the relationships and structure present in the family. It can be effectively used to treat a variety of concerns.
This answer often looks different to each family that starts family therapy. However, some signs that your family might need to consider family counseling include frequent fights or misunderstandings, constant tension, experiencing loss, behavioral issues, marital issues, divorce, and blended family issues, among others.
In family therapy, therapists will often start by asking questions and assessing individual and family dynamics. From there, they may employ therapeutic techniques such as structured family therapy, CBT, strategic family therapy, and more depending on the present concerns and conflicts. From there, a therapist will work to open lines of communication between family members and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Family therapy can be incredibly successful, with some studies reporting a success rate of almost 90% for improving participants’ emotional and mental health, and around 66% for improving their physical health.
Thriveworks therapists in St Louis, MO offer both online family therapy and in-person family therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Family therapy is usually short term and solution-focused, with most families accomplishing their goals in 12 sessions or fewer. However, it can also last for longer if the probles at hand are more complex — and that’s okay, too.
