About
My approach is warm, honest, and grounding—like having a steady, attuned guide who helps you understand what your mind and body have been carrying, and heal at a pace that honors both your strength and your exhaustion.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 16 years of experience providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma-related stress, identity concerns, and major life transitions. I often work with clients who feel stuck in patterns shaped by past experiences, chronic stress, or relational challenges and are seeking greater clarity, stability, and confidence.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from Southern Adventist University. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive processing therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions. I integrate culturally responsive and nervous system-informed strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
Clients often come to therapy wanting to feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to cope without becoming overwhelmed. I provide a collaborative and supportive space to build insight, strengthen emotional regulation, develop practical coping skills, and improve boundaries so you can move forward with balance, clarity, and confidence.

Eating disorder therapy is a specialized approach aimed at assisting those who are grappling with a range of eating disorders. These disorders are significant mental health conditions characterized by irregular or unhealthy eating patterns and an intense focus on body weight and shape. Common conditions addressed in Eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).
At Thriveworks, Eating disorders begins with a thorough assessment and personalized treatment plan. Central to eating disorder therapy is psychotherapy, often employing cognitive behavioral therapy and other specialized techniques to target negative thought patterns.
The signs of an eating disorder can include:
CBT’s remission rate, according to some research, is generally between 50-30% for those seeking assistance for eating disorder symptoms.
The recovery rate for those seeking assistance with eating disorders depends entirely on the individual’s involvement in sessions, the severity of their symptoms, and their willingness to change their eating habits and relationship with food.
Eating disorder therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of Eating disorders will vary from one person to the next, dependent on their specific needs. Your therapist can help to determine what might be most beneficial for you.
Eating disorders can never be taken for granted. With around 30 million of the United States population affected by anorexia and bulimia, these disorders have posed a serious risk to the health of many. The good news is that eating disorders may still be treated and prevented by a provider at Thriveworks in Johnson City, TN.
One of the biggest challenges faced by the country today is that only 10 percent of those with disorders are not able to receive treatment, thus a significant number of patients are still suffering from the effects of the disorder. This is an alarming concern.
Anorexia and bulimia seem like simple cases of people who are obsessed to shred off their body fats to look like the models they see in magazines, but the truth is, these disorders can be more complex. There are other important factors that cause these disorders:
1. Genetics play an important role in the development of anorexia and bulimia. It accounts for the heightened risk of a person acquiring these disorders. A person is more likely to suffer from these disorders when their family members are also sufferers. The person’s genes also play a huge influence on his/her behavior towards food.
2. Other mental health issues can also cause the development of anorexia and bulimia. A person with depression shows symptoms of abhorrence or obsession with food. On the other hand, a person who suffers from these eating disorders can also display depressive symptoms.
3. The person’s experiences can strongly contribute to his/her total well-being and perception of food. Those traumatic events that may have caused the destruction of his/her self-confidence can lead to these eating disorders.
4. The person’s exposure to various weight-loss programs or diets can also influence his/her eating patterns.
5. Peer pressure highly affects the person as well.
These eating disorders are very concerning, and people who are suffering from any of these disorders should realize its negative effects on their body. Nutrition imbalance due to wrong diet and food intake can cause nutrient-related deficiencies and make them more susceptible to serious health illnesses such as hypertension, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases.
Apart from these physical health consequences, the person can also experience depression, guilt, and shame, which can affect his/her mental stability. What is even more alarming is that studies have shown a strong association between eating disorders and suicide.
Treating bulimia and anorexia is not an easy task. The first important step is anorexia and bulimia counseling in Johnson City. This is where trained and experienced counselors can provide professional and emotional support to guide you in the next steps you should take to get over these disorders.
