Camila:
My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is to help them understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe space. I prefer CBT and person-centered approaches, as clients are able to feel heard, express their thoughts and emotions, and learn practical tools that can provide symptom relief.
Samer:
My approach to individual therapy is to identify the areas of concern that allow the client to take the lead and for me to provide the evidence-based therapy required to reach the targeted goals.
Camila:
I teach clients behavior activation techniques, grounding exercises, cognitive challenging, and healthy coping skills, to name some, to help them process their thoughts and emotions and cope during difficult times.
Samer:
I teach the following tools in individual therapy: stress management, emotional management, anger management, problem-solving and decision-making, communication skills, trauma processing, improvement of relationships, time management, parenting, and a lot of other approaches.
Camila:
I know clients are making meaningful progress in individual therapy when they feel more hopeful and motivated and start taking practical steps toward creating the life they want for themselves.
Samer:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy when symptoms of stress are significantly reduced, clients self-report progress toward therapy goals, or they achieved at least 75% of their objectives.
Camila:
Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy with exercise, mindfulness techniques, and social engagement.
Samer:
Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by following the therapy plan and paying attention to their time and energy as well as two major points, which are self-care and healthy relationships.
Camila:
To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can create a list of your current areas of concern and things you would like to achieve in therapy.
Samer:
To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can just complete the intake forms and make sure you know the office location or the Zoom link to your virtual session, and of course show up!
Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.

The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.

More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
Talk therapy has many benefits. The conversations between you and a licensed counselor are different from those you’ll have with a trusted friend. The value of speaking with talk therapist is not greater than speaking with a friend – it’s just different. And that’s because the purpose is different. If you think you could benefit from a professional’s help, reach out to Thriveworks Greenville today to schedule an appointment and get started.
Talk therapy is helpful for many types of mental health issues, including the following:
Your therapist will help you explore thoughts and behaviors that are in conflict with each other. You’ll gain insight regarding negative or false beliefs that steal your happiness and prevent you from reaching your potential. You’ll spend time discussing your past and how it affects you today. Talk therapy may reveal patterns that keep you from engaging in meaningful relationships. You may even discover your authentic self. You might be able to do this with a friend; but if you’re like most people, it’s not likely. Your friends are probably not therapists, so let them be your friends and save the hard topics for talk therapy.
Greenville Talk Therapy exists to provide meaningful and productive care for people who want to actively engage in their mental health support.
