Greta Wendorf is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 3 years of experience in counseling. Anxiety and trauma can cause confusion, worry, fear, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and can even be debilitating. She has a passion for helping adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, anger management, and domestic violence. She has plenty of experience counseling Christian clients while integrating her counseling skills and biblical teachings.
Greta holds a Master's in Professional Counseling (MA) from Liberty University, one of the top universities in the country in the field of counseling. She holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (BA) and an Associate's in Psychology from Broward College. Her experience of having received therapy herself helps her understand the emotions that accompany the process of starting therapy, the needs of clients, and the common experiences in the whole process of therapy. Greta uses several approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused CBT, cognitive processing therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, emotionally focused therapy, and solution-focused therapy.
We all go through challenges in life, and in those times it is helpful to have a professional within our reach to join with us and help us gain perspective and techniques to cope with the challenges. Greta is confident she can come alongside you and establish a strong therapeutic relationship to walk this journey with you. You can schedule an appointment with her today.

My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is emotionally focused therapy (EFT). EFT focuses on identifying and reshaping negative communication patterns and emotional responses within the relationship. It aims to strengthen the emotional bond between partners and create a more secure attachment. I also use:
I teach the following tools in couples/marriage counseling:Communication exercises: These exercises help couples improve their communication skills and understand each other better. Examples include active listening exercises, “I” statements, and reflective listening exercises.Conflict resolution techniques: Couples often engage in various techniques to resolve conflicts constructively. These may include problem-solving strategies, compromise techniques, and negotiation skills.Homework assignments: Therapists often assign homework tasks to couples to practice the skills learned in therapy sessions. These assignments may include communication exercises, conflict resolution tasks, or activities aimed at fostering intimacy.Boundary setting: Therapists may help couples establish healthy boundaries and clarify expectations within the relationship.Emotionally focused therapy (EFT): This approach focuses on helping couples understand and manage their emotions to improve their relationship. Techniques may include identifying and expressing emotions, validating feelings, and promoting empathy.

Thriveworks Couples therapy helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. It is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples. Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular couples therapy sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.
Couples therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend couples therapy for 12 weeks. However, couples therapy may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
