Award-winning therapy & psychiatry
My go-to approach for helping people in online therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. I find the best benefit in using these approaches because they collectively place the client in the driver's seat during their therapeutic journey. These two approaches empower clients to learn and understand that positive change is possible and achievable.
I teach my clients a variety of tools throughout the therapeutic process; however, a few are: communication styles, the power of learning love languages, and how to incorporate what you learn in your relationship with others. I also frequently utilize empowerment techniques through role-play and regularly rely on utilizing psychoeducation with my clients and engaging them in a narrative therapeutic process.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in therapy when there is a report of fewer disruptions in their daily life. As the clinician, I'm also aware that the client is making progress when they exhibit the ability to identify and healthily express emotions. It's also a sign that progress is being achieved when clients possess the ability to cope with stress and difficult situations.
Clients can supplement their time in therapy by completing the assigned take-home exercises and focusing on how applying what they learn in therapy will impact their overall life. As a therapist, I’m also an avid believer in a self-care routine. I always strongly encourage my clients to implement a self-care plan that is feasible for them to maintain throughout the therapy process and after the therapeutic process has concluded.
To prepare for online therapy sessions, an individual can prepare a list of topics that they feel are important to discuss during their sessions, each week. This ensures that clients are able to discuss topics that are relevant to the challenges they may be experiencing and allows them a safe space to further explore how the topics may evoke certain emotions. Lastly, creating a list aids the client in being assertive and empowered to select the solutions they desire regarding their current experiences.
With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
