About
Working with people to create a lifestyle of mental, emotional, and physical health and wellness.
Gayle Bookout is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Life Coach who has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Gayle desires to help people with life and career transitions ranging from affair recovery, divorce and marriage problems, premarital counseling, career changes, weight loss/management, loss of a spouse/loved one, as well as working with grief, depression, stress management, food addiction, and other mental health issues.
Gayle completed her master's degree in Counseling at Liberty University. Her objective is to help people work through the issues and transitions of their lives and empower them to lead a life free from the bonds of childhood wounds, everyday stress and depression, and negative self-talk, so that they will be able to lead productive and happier lives, find balance, and re-discover their passion. She helps people look for/at the underlying causes of their issues instead of treating just the symptoms, using cognitive behavioral and rational emotive therapies to get to the root of the matter.

Yes, there are therapists who help with anger via Anger management therapy. It’s a therapeutic process that an individual goes through to manage their anger and identify its triggers. They’re given clear instructions on how to improve their angry behavior as well as a safe space for opening up about their emotions.
Once an individual’s triggers are identified, anger management therapy focuses on helping the individual process and respond to these emotions in a more positive and productive manner. The anger management therapist will provide coping strategies and ultimately help their client take back control of their anger.
The five keys to mastering anger include identifying triggers, pausing before reacting, calmly expressing emotions, discovering constructive outlets for frustration, and seeking professional assistance if necessary. Acquiring these skills through Anger management therapy empowers individuals to effectively manage and navigate their anger.
The best therapy for anger management often involves cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps individuals identify and change patterns of thinking and behavior related to anger.
Anger management therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Often, Anger management therapy lasts between 4-6 weeks. However, it can last longer, dependent on the individual’s needs.
While it’s normal to doubt your ability to overcome a difficult challenge like anger issues, it’s important to remember that where there’s a will there’s a way. And to continue pushing forward to better yourself. Often, a helpful step in doing so is working with a skilled mental health professional who is dedicated to helping you succeed on this mission.
The counselors and therapists at Thriveworks have an impressive set of skills and extensive experience that enables them to help their clients with anger management. If you think you could benefit from anger management counseling, reach out to Thriveworks Charlotte today.

Do you think you could handle your anger in a more productive manner? You can benefit from working with an anger management counselor. They’ll help you address your anger issues, of which might be caused or exacerbated by any of the following common triggers:
What does it feel like when you’re angry? For many, they can feel their heartrate pick up. Sometimes, they start sweating and experience a rush of adrenaline. These physical reactions can sometimes cause us to lash out and act inappropriately. The key here is to recognize these changes and calm ourselves down before the situation escalates further. This is easier said than done for those who struggle with anger management. That’s where an anger management counselor comes in.
Your anger management counselor will help you explore the triggers listed above, as well as helpful techniques for calming down when you are, indeed, triggered and at risk of lashing out in anger. Here are a few practices they might help you master:
