A common approach to couples counseling is the “sound house” concept that allows the couple to recognize they are building something of a foundation with healthy and long term benefit rather than symptom coverage.
The frequent tools taught in couples therapy come from the “sound house” concept, four horsemen theory, active listening, successful relationship elements, and self care.
