I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 15 years of experience in the mental health field and over 25 years of work in human and social services. I specialize in trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault recovery, substance use, and criminal justice–related concerns. I am known for my compassionate, empathetic, and open-minded approach, helping clients feel safe, supported, and understood as they work toward healing and stability.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Georgia State University and my master’s degree in professional counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am a nationally certified counselor, a certified grief counselor, an advanced certified clinical trauma specialist, and a certified forensic mental health evaluator.

Thriveworks offers Stress management therapy, a type of therapy that helps people learn how to effectively manage and release their stress through the use of relaxation techniques, time-management practices, and mindfulness, among others. Relieving stress can greatly improve an individual’s mental health, as stress can detrimentally affect one’s emotional and physical well-being.
Stress management therapy functions by identifying the source(s) of stress and the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that are tied to it, then addressing them and creating healthy strategies for dealing with stress on a long-term basis. Additionally, Stress management therapy also helps people discover what warning signs they have that can let them know that they are stressed so that they can be more proactive in managing it.

Stress management treatment at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For those with low amounts of anxiety and stress and simple goals, stress management therapy can be fewer than 12 sessions. However, for those with intense anxiety and more severe symptoms, therapy will likely last longer in order to effectively treat their stress and mitigate their symptoms.
Without stress, we won’t study hard for that exam, push ourselves for that promotion, or reach for those goals. A lot of the times, stress is actually healthy!
But what happens when it’s not healthy? Stress is a normal and constant part of our lives, but it can get out of control quickly. We all have those days where one more thing will make us blow up, but what if that is nearly every day? What if stress has been so high and constant that you hardly notice it anymore, just the unhealthy coping mechanisms you’ve adapted.
Stress can be positive, but only if it’s properly managed. Stress is actually the biggest killer in the US! The impact it can have on our body and minds is much bigger than many expect and is important to address! The counselors at Thriveworks Savannah understand that balance is much easier said than done. Back when we had to hunt for our food and run away from predators, stress was crucial for our society.
