About
Having gone through therapy myself, I have an empathic understanding of what it is like to search for a therapist who truly gets you.
I am a registered mental health counselor intern (RMHCI) with 3 years of experience supporting clients coping with medical illnesses, grief, family and relationship dynamics, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and mental health diagnoses on the schizophrenia/psychotic disorder spectrum. I often work with individuals experiencing significant life stressors who are looking for tangible skills to help them manage more effectively.
I earned my Master of Arts in clinical psychology from the University of Central Florida. I utilize a person-centered approach as we begin work together, and integrate modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and existential therapy.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I would be honored to speak with you and assist you in becoming the ideal version of yourself. Seeking help is an act of courage and vulnerability. I am looking forward to working with you!

A go-to approach in DBT is skill building. The benefit of skill building is that it helps clients learn different strategies to manage any emotional distress they may experience.
Distress tolerance and emotional regulation are really good tools to teach, as clients can learn to manage their emotional experience in between sessions.
There are several indicators that can show whether or not a client is making progress with the use of DBT. Some include positive self-reports, a decrease in crisis calls, and overall presentation in sessions. However, it should be noted that progress, like treatment, is individualized.
To supplement DBT therapy, clients can practice skills that are learned in sessions on their own time, like distress tolerance and emotional regulation.
During your intake session, your therapist will discuss what to expect. Some of those discussions may include the importance of regular attendance and active participation.
At Thriveworks, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) primarily concentrates on assisting individuals in emotion regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and acquiring effective coping strategies for managing stress and emotional difficulties.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with therapists at Thriveworks in Tallahassee, FL is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
