About
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
Raymond Obiajulu is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He completed his master’s degree program at Walden University. After his introduction to the key areas of nursing, he found that psychiatry comprised the exact sort of comprehensive and holistic healthcare that he wished to practice. Raymond has experience treating a wide range of conditions including but not limited to anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and dementia. He incorporates an evidence-based approach in his practice with a focus on holistic mental health treatment.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, he serves as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care, managing total care, and attending to issues that affected his patients' physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Raymond looks forward to collaborating with his colleagues and other healthcare team members to provide the best patient care possible to our community, while they teach, learn, and build lifelong relationships with their patients and each other. He is passionate about serving mankind, as it has also been a part of his life's journey.
Raymond loves to extend the motto of helping his patients fulfill their needs, as it helps him fulfill his own. After all, as Mahatma Gandhi said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." He strives to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each unique individual and their life goals. His goal is for his patients to feel confident with their plan of care and know that together they will work together to achieve their goals.

Yes, we offer comprehensive psychiatric services to meet your mental health needs.
Psychiatry allows people struggling to manage mental conditions or disorders to get access to medications that will make daily functioning easier, as well as work through any mental factors that might be causing or worsening their condition. Though medications can’t cure mental disorders, medication can make symptoms more manageable, making the process of psychotherapeutic treatment easier and more effective. Psychiatric care can be available through in-person psychiatry and online psychiatry, depending on where you live and your own preferences. However, psychiatric providers at Thriveworks in Houston, TX specifically offer online psychiatry to their clients.
A therapist has an education specifically rooted in therapeutic practice, approaches, techniques, and treatment. They cannot prescribe medications for clients, though they often refer clients to psychiatrists for medication management. Psychiatrists are medically trained doctors who specialize in mental health treatment, mainly through medication management and prescription, though they can also practice therapy.
A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly trained and licensed professional who specializes in mental health care. They are qualified to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide therapy. Psychiatric NPs at Thriveworks are qualified to prescribe medications for a variety of mental health conditions. They work closely with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Oftentimes, psychiatrists or psychiatric professionals will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which involves an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and current medications. Once they reach a diagnosis, they may suggest starting certain medications depending on your condition and the intensity of your symptoms.
Yes. At Thriveworks, we offer online-only psychiatry services for optimal comfort and convenience.
Psychiatric services at Thriveworks Houston can last for as little or as much time as the client needs to reach their treatment goals, whether that be a month or two or over the course of a year. Treatment length is heavily dependent on the condition(s) being treated, the course of treatment, and the client’s goals for treatment.
Psychiatrists are mental health professionals who can prescribe anxiety medication and provide therapeutic treatment for anxiety, although not all psychiatrists offer therapy. At Thriveworks, medication management occurs via online psychiatry sessions.
Yes, Thriveworks accepts most major insurance plans. We strive to make mental health care accessible and affordable for everyone.
The state of our mental health is critical to our overall health and wellbeing. Now, day to day events and interactions with others can have either a positive or a negative effect on our mental wellbeing. For example, a disagreement with your spouse can leave a bad taste in your mouth; or, more accurately, leave you feeling sad, angry, or disappointed. Contrarily, a night spent bonding with your spouse can leave you feeling on top of the world.
When we have those negative encounters with our loved ones, we must work to address these conflicts and manage any negative emotions that come from them. The same is true for other mental health challenges that we run into. Sometimes, we can’t accomplish this on our own. We must work with a mental health professional to truly understand and manage the problem at hand.
Mental health professionals specialize in offering mental health help. Psychiatrists are one type of mental health professional who are experts at diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental illness. If you’re exhibiting any symptoms of a mental illness or your mental health is at jeopardy, due to any number of mental health conditions, you should consider consulting a psychiatrist.
If you’re in Houston, TX or nearby, consider calling our Thriveworks Counseling office in Houston, TX. We can set you up with an online psychiatrist right away. And you can look forward to talking to a provider in a telehealth session. This means that you get to attend your appointment from the comfort and convenience of home (or anywhere else you feel comfortable).
Psychiatrists can help many different people, as mental health problems are wide and varied. They can help their clients better understand and manage their mental health conditions and other challenges that affect their mental wellbeing as well. However, as we said earlier, they specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders.
The answer to this question, “Who should talk to a psychiatrist?” is a loaded one. The following people are just a few examples of those who should consider talking to a psychiatrist:
Unlike other mental health professionals, psychiatrists can offer their clients medication management. This means that they can prescribe medication and then monitor their clients over the period of time that they take this medication. They’ll want to make sure that the individual takes the medication as instructed and that the positive effects outweigh the negative effects.
If you are suffering due to a mental illness or you’re still seeking assessment and diagnosis for anxiety, PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, addiction, or another mental disorder, consider talking to a psychiatrist at Thriveworks Counseling in Houston, TX. If you’d like to do so, call our office and we’ll help you get started.
