However, some side effects like weight gain, high cholesterol or triglycerides, movement disorders, low blood pressure on standing, high blood sugar, or others may last longer. If you experience side effects which are bothersome or don't go away, talk with your provider. If you have serious side effects from lumateperone, call your provider. Can lumateperone (Caplyta) cause mania?

Lumateperone is used to treat depressive symptoms of bipolar I or II disorder. Symptoms of bipolar disorder may include mania or hypomania. In some cases, lumateperone may worsen mania if you cannot tolerate the medication or your dosage isn't optimal. If you're experiencing mania symptoms, call your provider—it may mean your medication isn't managing your condition.

Does lumateperone (Caplyta) help with anxiety?

Lumateperone is used to treat schizophrenia and depressive symptoms of bipolar I or II disorder—it is not approved for anxiety. However, in some cases, taking lumateperone may improve anxiety symptoms in people who have depressive symptoms with anxiety. Lumateperone is thought to work by improving levels of certain brain chemicals (dopamine and serotonin), which help improve mood. If you have questions about whether lumateperone helps with anxiety, talk with your provider.
